General Car Conversation 2024 - part 2
'Woof' is an understatement. The story is the Governor threatened the refiners, and they retaliated by raising prices. Don't know if that is true or not, but it's getting out of control here. No way gas should be that high end of the summer and travel season. Of course the 0.698 cent gas tax doesn't help

Gas prices don't really have much to do with it, for me. Even if gas was .50 cents a gallon I would still be buying EV's, when I got my Polestar in 2022, gas was in the $3 range
Does median salaries and household income come into play when gas prices are discussed? California median salary is much higher than many southern states? And then there are other services too.
I had a 2016 IS350 F Sport and didn’t object to the sound, but didn’t want exhaust because I really don’t care for the amplified sound of a V6. My DD Civic also has factory exhaust because nobody yearns to hear a four banger uncorked.
In other news, my cousin’s daughter got married last weekend and I went to Ohio to attend (I love that kid and I say that affectionately because she is 30). Her husband has a 1 year old S4 with a mild tune and he put E85 in it. That was bad. Now, he has a paperweight. I hope he can resolve it. My brother found a junked S4 with fewer miles and sent it to the new hubby. It was rear ended and it’s probably a car he can buy for $5k just to take the engine. A new engine is $30k. The car is probably worth $40k to maybe $50k but only if it runs.
