2024 model x test drive
ok another thing about the second row seats...
on the test car it was a 3 across bench setup (with 60/40 split folding). sitting in the seat behind the driver's seat, i noticed there's a HARD ridge between that seat and the tiny center seat. also legroom was tight until i realized the seats can go forward/backward some. then it was fine for me (i'm 6'3"). the backs of the front seats were completely plain, cheap looking with no pockets which isn't great.
in the showroom after the drive i tried out the second row in the 6 seater config. the 2 captains chairs don't go forward/backward but they had plenty of room. oddly they had seat controls like the front seats except they don't do anything as far as i could tell, or maybe they were disabled in the showroom. the space between the two captans chairs is very large... perfect for my hefty laptop bag.
anyway, if i got one, i'd prefer the 6 seater.

ok whatever, but still don't see how it's a split in the cover...

it's a slight bulge that goes through the Tesla lettering between the L and the A

It doesn't bother me either way
one more thing i remember from the x test drive... for all the praise of how 'fast' the center screen responsiveness is, i did not find the map to be that great. maybe with the 17" screen there's just more graphics to haul around but scrolling the map with my finger made it refresh a bunch of 'tiles' to catch up. not a biggie, but it was a bit surprising. and why almost no color on the map? maybe because it's based on google maps? i definitely prefer apple maps!

I've noticed in my 2nd generation CPU Model S that after a software update (not always) a second reboot (1st reboot automatically happens after the software update is complete) is needed otherwise the UI can be slow. It doesn't affect any functionality other than the slow screen refresh in maps.
What view of the maps was the X set to? The default Google maps basic view or satellite view? The default view doesn't have much color. The satellite view has more color.
Surprising to read about the slowness of the UI. Definitely not something normal in a new Tesla with the latest generation processor.

Otherwise, UI is super fast itself.
the ui wasn't slow, just the map blocking/loading.
default view.

wasn't a bad reception area though, in a huge city.
