Default / non-premium connectivity maps are bland. Same on the Rivian. Add in the satellite images and it's better.

I was thinking about that, that is probably the issue. I have Premium connectivity, if I didn't pay for it I would have to use my phone as a hotspot to get live map data or use satellite view

Well I for one have long been looking forward to a test where the Dacia Sandero and MG Marvel R are front and center...

With that said, the biggest weakness in the article is this:

"Voice control. The carmakers arekeen to point out that many features now can be activated by voice. But the voice control systems are not always easy to use, they can’t control every function and they don’t always work as advertised, which is why the voice control systems were not tested in this experiment."

Because voice control absolutely is part of the solution, and it is/was a mistake to exclude them.

How do you compare it to MY? Is it worth the extra $? I test drove all except M3. I prefer the stalk for signal. The instrumental display is a nice addition but I find it too tiny and hard to read the information. Maybe this is why they introduced the Yoke? I think material is OK, nothing special. Other vehicles in the price range offer better. Do you know you can tilt the center display? That's a nice feature. Yeah, it's too fast. 3.8 is too fast for me too.

They haven't used a Tesla screen, which way easier than physical buttons IMO. One touch to turn on the HVAC, one touch to get to important controls

since this was a demo car with full self driving enabled, i'm sure it had premium connectivity.

but i didn't want satellite maps so they weren't enabled.

the model y is great value and an all around 'appliance'. so it's useful and functional, but to me, rather plain and not that interesting. the x is a pretty crazy car in many ways, obviously the rear doors being a bit part of that. for most the extra cost won't be worth it, but some less crazy things like the adjustable air suspension and the driver gauge display are (to me) definitely nice to haves.

Tell your friend that's ridiculous. The two cars are not even comparable. You get a Y as your commuter/family car and or work car. Replacing it with a Y would be like replacing an M3 with a family SUV.

Tell your friend to get a life. JK 🤣
