BMW i7
Although they do have a pretty awesome lease offer. Maybe I shouldn't have said that...
I'm around a lot of Tesla owners, and I mean a lot, and they are a mixture of car people, techies, and non car people. Some came from cars like Porsche, BMW (M3/M5 X3/X5 3/5 Series), Lexus, Camry, RAV4 ect. They bought them because of the way they drive, the tech, utility, and even the unique way them look. Most did not buy a Tesla to "save money" (or the environment), especially those who bought from 2019 through 2022. Tesla drivers are nothing like the previous Prius buyers, which I also know a lot of. They like love them the same exact reason you like the i7
Oh the Model S is much, much better looking, no denying that. BUT, its much smaller inside, it doesn't drive or ride anywhere near as well, the powertrain is not as refined (the Model S has a EV whir and the throttle application is not as graceful), the interior is nowhere near as nice, and it lacks a lot of technology and features that the i7 has that I really like. No automatic route memory, no massaging seats, no multicontour seats, no leather, no ambient lighting etc. It also no longer stands out on the road, its very ordinary. I like to be wowed by my car.
As much as I love the exterior of the Model S, one spin around the block and it was immediately apparent that it was not the car for me. One spin around the block in an i7 and I was in love.

The unique way they look, not the beauty of them.

Yeah, that is a good deal. I don't see myself ever paying that much for a car so perhaps I can go drive one! The nicest car I've ever driven is a Rolls Royce. Very curious to see if this comes close. Both of your comments are making me wonder.
Its been a long time since I have driven a Rolls Royce but a lot of reviewers say its very comparable
You just said in one sentance that people don't like change as in the i7 is too big a change, then in the next sentence poked fun at me because I don't like change and like a vehicle thats designed like a traditional car. Confusing lol
i didn't say you don't like change, i said generally most people don't like change.
Yup, give yourself some time with the new 7 and you may come to like it too
That makes no sense, the interior is very traditional...the only unusual element is the crystal ambient lighting bar, and in person its not that unusual. Just trying new things and new materials instead of the status quo of wood, leather and metal. The 223 S Class has a big wide ambient light strip too it just doesn't have the faceted detailing. Embarrassed by a car interior? Strange.
we can't say we don't like something? i don't believe i've said anyone is wrong for liking a particular car because that doesn't make sense, it's a subjective thing.
i don't know anyone who has said "i have no idea why you could like that car".
that's what i mentioned, the model s, which is 4 1/2 inches lower than this i7.
you have that all wrong. i agree the i7 is, in a weird way, trying to appeal to traditional buyers, but imo it's more 'camel' than elegant horse, lol.
i didn't say you don't like change, i said generally most people don't like change.
i guess anything's possible, but i don't think so.
maybe i just don't want to drive something that flashy. the g90 i had, certainly the nicest car i've ever had, was quite reserved inside, but high quality.

I've owned many Toyota's over the years not many won any beauty contests no one including me cared. In fact Toyota had been heavily criticized for decades, accused of making boring car. Best cars Toyota will ever make. And the styling aged much better than than most of a given era.

Nice things are flashy. Some of it is a little over the top, but the interior is super high quality with great seats and thats whats most important to me. This car isn't flashy?

If a person can't handle someone saying their car is ugly then I think they have issues. For example:
I don't care who calls my car ugly that's not my problem. Model Y is purposely shaped for cheating the wind and to have as much cargo space as possible. It's not trying to win a beauty contest, the i7 obviously is. But if someone likes the i7 looks and buys the car all good with me just hope they don't live near me.

It goes beyond just sharing an opinion about the car to actively attacking the taste of anybody who likes the car over and over again. I don't like most Teslas, but I don't post repeatedly in any discussion of these Teslas how ugly I think they are and argue with everybody who likes them like you two do in ANY discussion of the new 7.
Part of the fun for me of CL is talking about my cars as well as cars in general. I don't "care" what anybody else thinks of what I buy but I wouldn't be being honest if I didn't admit that I also don't want to be arguing about my car being ugly every time I post a picture of it. If I got an i7 I'd probably stop posting here as much quite honestly.

No doubt they are everywhere, but I don't know that people buy them because they love the shape. A lot of people that own Model Ys and Model 3s (more the Y) that I know are not really car people, they don't really care what a car looks like, they bought the car because it was an EV and a Tesla and has good space and is well priced, not because they saw the car and said "I have to have that car", and the people that did like the car because its kind of quirky and strange not because its beautiful.
It reminds me a lot of when my wife had the Prius and Prius people...they are tech people not car people. Nobody saw a Prius and said "thats the most beautiful car I have ever seen". They liked the look of it because it was quirky and odd and appeared tech forward etc.
If I get an i7, it won't be because I think its the most beautiful car I have ever seen. I wanted my S560 because I think its really beautiful...but the i7 I think looks good in the right spec and its different, and its just an incredibly comfortable car to be in and drive and I love the EV powertrain. For instance, i probably wouldn't be interested in a V8 7 Series I would get a W223 S Class.
I totally agree. I have no issue with saying that one personally doesn't like something, but the outright statements of "That is a hideous car, I have no idea why you could like that car" is not necessary.

Not here to bash Tesla but I’ve come to learn on this forum when it comes to EV, there are other options.
