Exactly. Seriously he could design a car where you kneel instead of sit and people would say how awesome it is lol

So you can apply your opinion universally but I can't. Got it.

Great, those people can buy something else.
Wouldn't it be great though if we could buy a Tesla? Just watch, same as the steering wheel Tesla will bring the stalk back because its just the design that makes the most sense.

Yep. Just like people that can't let go of physical controls for everything.
Some physical controls are just better. Every time I drive a car with a touchscreen I am reminded how much I don't like them.

I haven't tried it for myself, have you? I'm going by people that have actually used them.
I have, they suck. Its just totally nonintuitive for no benefit at all. Why are you lauding a design choice as superior when you haven't even used it yourself?

You also didn't answer my question, how is that turn signal button better than a stalk?

What car did you drive?

Highland gets adaptive headlights but not in North America.

“We” refers to people who want the stalks. Your implication when you say we “can’t let go” is that we’re backwards because we want stalks. That’s not the case. Tell me how these buttons are better than a stalk.
Just to let you know, I just test drove the new Model 3, and it has a regular horn, not a button. I'm about to post a review on it. The Model S and X have the horn button

2023s...Tesla owned them...they were test drives. Last fall.

Are you doubting that I would be able to test drive a Tesla?

Looking forward to seeing what you think!

Be prepared to prove to Lex2k that you drove it lol

It's super odd that you're driving so many Tesla's, cars that are only appreciated by Elon cult members.

I drove several Model Ss as its a vehicle I was considering purchasing.

I like to drive all kinds of cars. I don't dislike Teslas, what I dislike is the cult's inability to criticize decisions made by Elon Musk, and I don't like engineering decisions that provide no benefit except for "being different". I see no benefit to having buttons for turn signals vs a stalk, only downsides.

Right, I don't need to have a positive opinion of an organization to buy its' products.

I know full well that Ford and BMW have some uh....unpleasant details in their histories in the early 20th century, yet my driveway has Ford and BMW sitting in it.

Overall I think the changes to the Model 3 highland are an improvement over the outgoing model, and I laud that. I just disagree strongly with the decisions regarding controls. I said the same thing when traditional automakers started replacing shifters with a mishmash of button or dial solutions.

One thing I really appreciate about the S/X over the 3/Y is that they still have a display right in front of the driver. I'm not a minimalist, so the 3/Y interiors are just not my thing. I don't feel at all cluttered by the buttons in my 540i, and I think they are laid out quite well and very usable.

I think Tesla overall has done some very good things for the industry. There's things I like about them, there's things I dislike about them which are currently dealbreakers for me owning one. Elon, as much as I dislike him for personal/political reasons, would not be a factor in my decision to buy or not buy, even if I think that for some fans, his cult of personality does distort reality.

Alright, just test drove the 2024 Model 3 Highland Long Range. I spent about 30 minutes with it driving it through the worst roads Fremont has to offer. Others have already reviewed it, so I'll just post some highlights.

The Good: It's a huge improvement. Everything from suspension, to sound deadening. Road noise has been cut way down, and the suspension is excellent. Compared to my 2023 MY, it's about 2 to 3 notches softer. I drove on some pretty bad roads around Fremont, and the suspension sucked up the bad roads. Seats are slightly more comfortable, and they are ventilated, unlike mine. Room seems to be about the same as the prior year Model 3. Although it lacked stalks, it was easy enough to adjust to the buttons on the steering wheel, the turn signals are not hepatic touch like the Model X I drove, but you can actually feel them, and they click. And it had an actual NORMAL horn! C'mon Elon, W T H? JK 🤣 Power was excellent and there when you need it, and it was overall fun to drive.

The not so good: No stalks. Although it was easy to adjust to, they should have just kept the stalks. There was absolutely no reason to remove them. But not a huge deal in the scheme of things.

Final thoughts: I was impressed A pretty big improvement over the previous years. If you are on the fence, maybe time to get off and at least do a test drive

I think your car is butt ugly. I have zero interest in looking at it and zero interest in driving it. That's why I don't spend time in your thread telling you and everyone else all the things about it that suck and that the only people who could possibly buy the car are Mercedes cult members.

Plus you're flat out wrong you see what you want to see. I sharply criticize the horn button and all you take away from that is I MUST also hate the turn signal buttons. If I don't then I'm in a cult.

Exactly. I think the Model S is gorgeous, I love the power, I just dislike a lot of their control decisions.

I also hate the gearshifter in our Pacifica...and several engineering decisions in my Mercedes.

Number one, this is not your thread. This is a thread about the Model 3 Highland and this is a design change in this model. This is a public forum and all opinions are welcome.

I don't care what you think of my car, I think your car is ugly too lol. What I reacted to was you saying that people who prefer a turn signal stalk "can't let go" and thats absurd. You have Tesla owners in this thread saying stalks are better.

Why does it make you angry when people say things that are negative about Tesla's design decisions? . Its just a car...and its not even a car you own....yours has a stalk! By your own admission you have never driven one with the turn signal buttons.

Plus you're flat out wrong you see what you want to see. I sharply criticize the horn button and all you take away from that is I MUST also hate the turn signal buttons. If I don't then I'm in a cult.
What makes you in a cult is this ridiculous fury over people criticizing Tesla and its products. Why are you allowed to criticize the horn button but those of us who want a turn signal stalk are "unable to let go"? Why does it make you angry that I don't like turn signal buttons and I think they're dumb?
