But you don't understand boxing as well as a boxer, and you dont understand boxing any better than anybody else who follows boxing. I too follow this technology and have a lot of experience with these systems...and youre just wrong.

I understand how the ILS system works. I was quite excited when I read about it several years back because it had the potential to change the game. It's a good system! I'm not denying that at all. But when taking everything into consideration, HID's should be the go to technology. You already know my stance on halogen projectors.
if you understood how it works you wouldnt have said adding a bright light on the roof of your car would beat the system.

Issue with HID is its complex, generates a lot of heat, requires a ballast and the bulbs wear out. LED is a better system because its simple and longer lasting. All LED headlights are not matrix LEDs.

If you understood how these systems work you would never say simple is better yet also say HID should be the default over LED. HID is much more complex.

You can't mount a light on your car's roof and drive it legally on public roads, lol.

Wait -- so someone who knows *something* about a topic knows more than another person who knows *nothing* about a topic?! I never really thought about it that way.... that's a great point. You should call that being an "Armchair Quarterback"!

Lol... off roading, throw a light bar that will light up an acre like the sun on top of my truck. That would be fun. On road I'd be pulled over fast.

The point of what I said was, you dont understand the benefits of this system if you have never driven a car with the system...at least not as well as someone who has a car with this system and also had the car you are saying has lights that are just as good.

Sir, I understand the ILS system as I said I looked into years ago before it was released on the Merci

And I never said my HIDs are just as good. I said they were good.

That's how you know it was well engineered.
Not really since matrix systems just totally outclass them and LED projectors are "good enough" for normal cars. HIDs are very good but they don't have a chance against an array system that is tied into the auto drive and camera systems.

I thought the LS460s HIDs were better than reality until I did a head to head and actively paid attention and realized I could see more and further at higher speed with a matrix system.

The only drawback is extreme cost but at the end of the day better is better and in more than willing to pay for and accept that. That's why I don't wear. $50 watch or carry a $650 gun.....I wear Swiss and carry a full custom.

Ok lets get back on topic and stick to lighting aesthetics instead of performance LOL

People need to get it out their heads that HIDs are still the greatest thing in lighting. They've long since been surpassed by LED technology. I strongly disagree that light emitting diodes are relatively reliable, they are not due to being run at very high current per surface area.

Reliability--that's why I like HIDs, though, is because they are trusty and good enough. With HIDs most of the time you just swap bulbs which is minimal cost compared to an LED failure. I just replaced both LX headlights with better bulbs for less than $200. Look great exterior wise and illuminate the road great.

Xenon bulbs were a game changer for sure I did a bunch of retrofits starting around 2010. Now, they are too complex and not bright enough.

xenons still look great. I personally love how they look on the old Acura mdx. They’re like two shining stars that looked very intimidating in the rear view mirrors.
