Vehicle manufacturers did not switch to LEDs because they are more expensive. Economy cars have LEDs now...thats why...they are cheaper.
Yep and that ballast isn't cheap for some cars. $1000 in some cases, and the bulbs eventually run low on salt and need to be replaced BEFORE they fail to arc or you are risking the ballast.

Corolla leds are comparable to halogen projectors, not HIDs

Want to know another great thing about HIDs? The technology has been perfected. The blue print for the production and use in vehicles is the same, with minor differences. That means I can go and get that blue print and have it made with ease. That’s not the same with LED headlights as the technology is still being fleshed out, with a different range of performances across the board. And if you want an LED system to perform the same as an HID system, you’re going to have to pay for it

also, you guys should see the ballast size difference on an 07 Lexus vs a 2016 jeep with Hids. The ballast is tiny and built right into the bulb.

Lets see how long someone can continually defend some statement where literally everybody knows they are wrong...

That's because LEDs are still getting better and better, plasma arc lighting is nearly maxed out for a given size and last I checked they aren't going to run 4-6 bulbs per side with HIDs so a swarm of 25 LEDs will outpower them with less energy useage and weight.

My carry flashlight is more powerful than most headlights, that's because LEDs continually improve and now cam have more output than an entire headlight in a flashlight.

The pre-refresh lights have 5 rectangles that have a semi-mirror effect I really really like. The post just has solid light bars kind of like below

Lights on

Brakes on

The effect is way cooler at night, the LS also has really cool "L" shaped forms in the tail lights

Gas arc lamp dates back to the mid 1940's. LED tech is now far superior in efficiency and total output.

yeah those taillights are definitely decked out with high quality LEDs. But the styling is very European lol. LS tailllights looks very boring and forgettable, like BMW taillights in the mid 2000s. Old man stuff lol

that’s depends…

my neighborhood was recently upgraded with LED street lighting and a few of them have malfunctioned in the years and never been fix. It’s got that notorious flickering problem. Had those been an HID system, a simple bulb or ballast swap would’ve fixed the problem.

Cities are saving a small fortune moving to LED from sodium lamps. Far less light pollution as well. Give it up already.

how?

I also read your post up there. You have great credentials and I’ll write a post explaining hopefully everything in regards to lighting(at least an automotive application)
