Default my dashboard is soooo colorful..

Ever since I installed an aftermarket header on my IS350, the VSC and engine warning lights have came on. Advanced motor said there's something they can add on to, so the lights will have less chance to come on..(i still haven't gotten it fix)

however recently, 2 more warning lights have came on. they are the P/S (power steeling system) and ABS (ABS system)..I have no idea what's wrong with them and why they suddenly occur. Beside that, both my speedometer and odometer stopped functioning.. no matter how fast i go, how far i drive, the number won't change.. (ie. the needle won't rotate)..

how i have like 7 warning lights on my dash, as my title says, it's quite colorful. lol. Does anyone know what's possibly wrong with my car??

Holy cow, um have you plugged it in? (for warning codes and such)

So, if you get pulled over you can just say 'yea, my spedo said I was going 0'

Are you out of warranty? If not this might be a stealership trip.

wtf did u install?

dashboard lights, tryin taking it apart, might just be a temp short.

ABS light, check dirt on ur abs sensor.

VSC is related to the ABS, so if u manage to fix the abs, u may fix the VSC.

aftermarket header...i recall reading that some cars require a dummy O2 sensor to trick the ECU - not sure if this is applicable for your car?

don't go to the dealership yet...they'll throw your warranty out the window saying because you installed headers, that's why you have all these problems. i would first take your car back to the performance shop that installed your headers, get them to double check to see if they screwed up or not. confirm first that the performance shop correctly installed your headers, then get independent verification from an independent auto shop. Armed with this knowledge, you can then go to the dealership for repairs, and if they try to deny you warranty, you can tell them they are wrong because you have proof otherwise.

would also be a good idea to post in the IS forums and see if anyone else can help you troubleshoot.

^^ yeah, that's what i was thinking about, O2 bung hole.

good info on that mazzuri headers link...it would explain a lot why stkiss is having so many problems.

stkiss: do not go to dealer, they will definitely void your warranty for sure coz they can prove that it's the headers that's causing the problems

go back to your performance shop and get them to add an O2 simulator and/or new cat; you might want to show them that mazzuri thread that kaydee posted so they know what to do. good luck!

Oh of course I must have entirely missed that you said 'header' lol ... The simulator should fix @ least one light (probably two)

thank you everyone for the advice! unfortunately, the dealership already knew about my headers during my previous maintenance visit. They said they saw the VSC light, and they tried to find out why.. eventually, they found out about it =(

as for the O2 sensors, I did installed a new pair of them. However, it doesn't seems to stop the computer from sensing the aftermarket headers. (which is why the light was still on during my service). According to Ken from Advance, there's another parts that I needa add on, which I'm planning to do it very soon.

So, I went in for another service today. Since they already knew I have headers, I might as well ask them to diagnosis the ABS and P/S problem. They said that the P/S problem might be due to the ABS problem, which led them to find out about a broken speed sensor on my front-left wheel... and that might be the cause of alll these lights. They suspected that it was broken during the process of spring installation. (but that was like in Oct 2008, is it possible for a problem to arise after such a long time?) I called Advance and booked an appointment on Monday to see if they can do anything about it.

i will keep u guys updated! and once again, thanks for the advice!

Here is a quote from megan:

“The IS250 headers fit the IS350 but you REQUIRE an O2 Simulator because the
car will be thrown into a Null mode and won't go past 15mph with the Check
Engine Light on.”

So when you say you installed the O2 sensors, is this what they are talking about?

ummm I'm not sure if the O2 simulator is the same thing as O2 sensor. If yes, I'm sure that I have O2 sensors installed, and I can travel at any speed I like too..

the simulator and the sensor are totally not the same thing. One is an actual sensor and the other it tricking your computer to think everything is ok.

ohhhhh. then I think what Ken from Advance was talking about is the simulator..(I forgot what he mentioned before..) I guess both sensor + simulator are needed in order to trick the computer.

I'm sure that will fix my engine light and VSC light, but I might also need to replace my speed sensor~
