does anyone have a favorite spot to take pictures of their ride?
i can't seem to find anywhere quiet or isn't crowded during the day... usually end up with dawn or dusk shots, but never able to do something in the middle of the day when the light is best.

spanish banks is good
since the parking lot is so big, its not too hard to find an empty spot to get a clear shot of your car
you could always try burnaby mountain park
if u want to do some driving, Porteauve Cove (sp?) is a good place to take pics too
what sort of background are you looking for?
mountains?
grass?
sea?
clear sky?
cliff?

since it is summer, u could go to BCIT or some school to get a large building as a backdrop without kids bothering u
wait... when does BCIT get out of school for the summer?
weekends @ SFU would be good too
exams at SFU will be done in mid August and there will be 2~3 weeks after that that the campus will be pretty empty

Here's a place that's pretty good for afternoon photos with buildings in the background.

Right at the end of Spyglass Place street.

Its not a busy street so it makes it easy to take pics there. Found this place by accident one day going home from work... haha

not so nice after all... i failed to take into account the city of vancouver is on strike and they were picketing in that area... damn
sfu was a no go. security told me to leave, but had no issues with me doing out in the parking lots... but that is no good because i wanted buildings and not trees and parked cars for backdrops
any others suggestions?

but if u want buildings and stuff [and u dont wanna be that creative at sfu] ubc has many many sidewalks that you can drive on and their security guards care a lot less about where your car is
also, if u want the contrast of nice car infront of old industreal back ground ... new west is the place to go ... but i definately wouldnt go that one alone

i used to go down to the ballantyne pier areas to take pics, but with all the new port security that option is no more.
maybe i'll hit the regency lexus service building after hours... seems nice enough.

A great spot for you is near the North Shore Auto mall.
Just past the auto mall is a large park with lots of parking and not a lot of people, and it gives one of the best views overlooking downtown Vancouver.
