can everyone tell me about the high mileage Lexus LS 460 engine? How is everyone doing with people who have over consumption of oil and how long have you been driving by just adding oil every time? I’m stuck with car value low and dealer telling me to change the engine. But I love this car and want to keep driving it.
please tell me how many mileage you have and how long have you been riding with adding oil every time. My consumption is 1000 miles 2.5 qts……
I've seen several members posting about oil consumption. It can happen, but there are members who burn no oil. If you do a search, you should find some of these threads. As long as you check oil level, top off as needed, no reason you can't continue to keep using the car. Unless you're having problems you didn't mention. Beats a new engine. There is an oil treatment that a shop can try to help loosen gummed up oil rings. It's not just wear that causes oil use.
I appreciate your advice. I have been looking at the threads. I see many people continue to use the car and that will be my decision as well. Just wondering how long is this style going to last? I just want some people with similar problems so I know I can keep the car. I just got my rims done….
Cummins had an issue with their ISX15 engines carboning the oil rings and using a ton of oil between oil changes. They worked with Valvoline and developed an oil that, in many cases, reduced oil consumption by 2/3 or more. The oil is expensive and only available at Cummins dealers ($80 per gallon and comes in a 3 gallon case). I have followed several people who have used this oil in their trucks and they have had much success using this product. You can look up plenty of info about it including their patent. The magic sauce is the crazy expensive 50% Group V Ester + 30% PAO & 20% add pack. I have seen threads on Prius Chat & Toyota Nation about VPBR oil.
The key word when doing a search is RESTORE not just their regular Premium Blue product. I have used it in a 2014 GL450 that was using a little oil and running a touch rough with good results.

thank you! For now I just put 5w30 mobile one synthetic oil. I’ll try it next round.
also just wondering sometimes I’m pressing my gas peddle full throttle but the speed goes up really slow? What does this mean?

Is your car leaking or burning the oil? Have you changed the oil pan gasket, valve cover gaskets, or the “ever-leaking” high pressure fuel pump seals?
