I also wanted to improve the ride, was getting a lot of clunking and bumpiness. I was worrried I would have to do a lot of front suspension components, but only replaced front shocks, mounts, and buffers. Also did wheel balance, alignment, and oil change. Paid $450 for the labor. Car definitely rides like a Lexus again, smooth and quiet. FIY the dealer quoted me $1100 only just for the shocks instalation labor. I'm pretty satisfied.
KYB shocks and mounts from RockAuto. Also OEM insulators. As well as an oil change.
The originals were toast. Note that The OEM are also KYB. The new ones support the AVS function as well.
Supplies for next maintenance. Besides oil / air filter, i think it's time to do coolant and brake fluid. And probably tire rotation.
It's been about a year and 4500 miles since last maintenance. Brought it to my local shop to do a rotation and balance, oil change, coolant flush, brake fluid.
It's been about 4 years since I had the brake and coolant done so I wanted to do it preemptively. A friend from Toyota printed out the shop manual instructions. The mechanic was only draining the radiator, so I had him find the drain plugs on both side sides of the engine block to get the rest of the coolant out. Also you can see I swapped out the plastic oil filter housing for a metal Tundra one.
Replaced about 2.5 gallons total, I specifically wanted to do this to try to prevent the valley plate leak that happens in the V8s. Also had the brake fluid replaced to help with the longevity of the brake actuator, which I replaced when I first purchased the car. It took the mechanics a while to do it without TechStream but they were able to, used the total of three cans. I went with Toyota OEM DOT 3 fluid since it is supposed to absorb less moisture. Topped off a little coolant this morning, car rides great.
Next oil change I will have them do the trans filter.
Had a slow leak in two tires. One was the seal, another was a small metal puncture. Resealed, and plugged, so far so good.
