Default DVSN F’s Quarantine Build Thread

Early April 2020 I set out to find a GS F, I was fortunate enough to find one in Miami. When I purchased the car it had Velgen 20” wheels, and stretched tires (a little too stretched for my taste) as well as RSR Superdown springs. On May 1st I drove down to pick it up and drive it back to New Orleans.

As soon as I got it back, the first thing I did was get the car a paint correction, ceramic coating, and some xpel ppf. Along with 5% ceramic tint all around, and 20% ceramic tint on the sunroof.

After that, a few days later I had an appointment to get it dyno’d to see where it was at before the first round of mods made its way onto the car.

The car made a respectable 392whp & 347wtq without any mods done to the engine or exhaust. Soon after I decided to pull the trigger on an RR Racing intake heat shield, and Tom’s air filter while I researched what catback exhaust I wanted to go with.

I ended up rolling around with this set up for a few weeks before I ended up pulling the trigger on the Invidia Q300 at the height of the pandemic and placed and order for it at three different places before I was finally able to secure one. I should have expected it since it took me 2 different venders to secure the air filter. Knowing the Invidia would have to be modified to fit the car was a little tricky but the exhaust shop I went to was able to knock its out of the park in a few hours.

The same day the exhaust was installed I ended up taking the car to the drag strip and running a 13.02 @ 109 with a full tank on a 90+ degree day. I was happy with the car and knew I would eventually do headers down the road. But for now I was happy power wise and went back to dyno the car to see what progress was made.

I was pretty impressed coming from a S2000 where bolt ons without a tune literally gained maybe 1-2 wheel horsepower to see that just an intake filter and exhaust made a pretty noticeable difference in how quick the car felt, how much power the car made everywhere. The car already felt pretty stout stock, now it’s just more enhanced, but still very refined.

Just to add some flavor to the engine bay I added a HPS silicone elbow and a couple of Phase2 anodized couplers because I didn’t like the polished one the elbow came with.

I ended up finding this guy Elvin on Instagram that had a bunch of carbon fiber goodies for our cars and swapped the shift **** over to a circuit red and carbon fiber one. I feel like it fits the interior so much better than the stock black one.

I also picked up a credit card key for the car and got it programmed. It’s such a breeze not to have to worry about a key fob. I can just attach it to the back of my iPhone and go.

Recently I finally grew tired enough of the stretched tires and purchased some 255’s for the front and a set of 295’s for the rear. The tires look so much better on the car now and the ride is also improved as well. I’ve always been a fan of the firehawk tires, so I knew when I was looking to replace the Hancook tires I bought the car with that I would be going with a set of these.

I’m also waiting for my personalized plate to arrive, which feels like it’s taking stupid long because of COVID. I submitted the request in June of 2020, and I just got confirmation on it in November.

The next thing on the list for the car is a set of PPE headers, which I placed an order for in December.

Awesome, we now have 3 active GSF builds going. I am curious to see what you went for on your license plate. I spent some time think about a car / build name.

Have you had any problems with the credit card key next to your phone? The fobs in the 2IS would burn out if put in the same pocket as your phone. I have two credit card keys I always carry, but I'm always careful to keep my phones and my keys separated. If it's not necessary, that would be awesome.

So far no, the only issue I’ve had is finding a battery for it. 😒

Looking good! Engine is looking clean and I’m digging the Phase 2 clamps (I went with black ones on mine). You going to throw an Air/Oil Separator in there?

The key card is so convenient; I never carry keys anymore since I can also get into my house via smart lock too! My wife carries her set when we’re together just in case. Only thing I miss is being able to remotely lock the car if I forget to touch the handle to lock, but then again, the Lexus app sends me an Alavert and I just use my phone.

Thank you!

Headers should be finished fabrication on Monday and then off to ceramic coating. PPE said they should be shipped by Thursday if all goes well.

Can’t wait to get these on and dyno the car one more time to see the gainz!

PPE Unequal Length Headers finally arrived after almost 9 full weeks from date of order.

Complete with new gasket set, O2 conditioners, new O2 sensors, and the O2 extension harness.

Should be installed by the end of the weekend. Then it’s off to get another alignment and go to the dyno for some numbers.

Looking good and cant wait to see the dyno results. Just curious, what made you go with unequal length versus equal length headers?

Probably a combination of like 3 major things to me:

- Price per HP (the difference in price just isn’t justifiable for me)
- Bending the dipstick (just seems like a pain)
- Sound (with my exhaust combo I love how the UEL sounds)
