^^ Nice of you to offer the long list of details, advice, and knowledge to others. You're a good person.
When you can drive on ice without studs, that's when you are smooth enough to brave the wild! Haha! Driven in lots snow and ice, its extra fun anticipating what mistakes others are capable of and thinking ahead enough to avoid being part of it!
GL on your build! Looks to be coming along nicely.
Car is really close to being put back on the ground and sent out for alignment/suspension setup. Last time I mentioned some confusion with the front brakes and not knowing what they actually were. So, because I'm an idiot and don't check part numbers when I receive parts I failed to notice that the first pair of rotors I received from the performance shop were actually for the standard single piston front brakes making them 12.6" or something along those lines (even though I specified several times to the guy that I needed the bigger 4 piston caliper rotors). I just ***-u-me'd that they were the 13.1" variants which lead me to believe that the calipers were off a GS350 which needed a 14" rotor. Was still super confused because they didn't look like the GS calipers. After getting the proper 13.1" rotors from the fsport IS350, now the front brakes fit perfectly.
Also while I was putting the rear end together I bought new CV axels off ebay (aftermarket) and the advertisement had the left and right mixed up. So when I first put them on the right side CV was way too far into the wheel well, and the left was sticking out past the fender. If anyone buys new CV's remember the longer CV goes on the passenger side and the shorter one on the driver side.
I'm really pleased with how everything is coming together. Now that I'm almost done all the boring **** such as bushing and arms, the fun can begin with aero and custom fabrication.
( Notice the back bumper )
Props to RR-Racing for engineering great products such as this rear BBK utilizing Wilwood calipers.
More updates coming soon!
Lol I'd like to think of it as a split bumper, since the top half is still there. Yes I'm making a custom diffuser, but I'm doing it for the aero benefit, not for looks. Function over form.
^Oh, I know! Those plastic glue on "diffusers" that people purchase shouldn't be called that. You sir will have a true diffuser and I welcome function or form any time!
Thanks so freaking much
My email glitched and I never got a notification for a reply and then got caught up in university stuff.
I absolutely love the 2020 Lexus ES, so hopefully there'll be a day in which I'll drive a 3rd gen IS350 (all tuned up) as my fun car and the 2020 ES as the daily.
As much as I love cars, I wanna save all my money and invest a bit and maybe even buy a house before I spend a crazy amount on cars or anything, then later on in my 30s hopefully I can get the nicer things in life.
Man like words cannot describe how grateful I am for people like you who are living to help me out.
I'm like 18 and I'm in college rn so is there any life advice you have that you would wanna give (I know we're just strangers but I ask this question to most older people who have helped me out just so I could learn from other people and not make the mistakes they may have made.
So I found a tune for my 2013 IS250 AWD, and I could potentially buy it in a year or two (once I get used to and good at driving), https://www.rr-racing.com/RR-Racing-...is2scr2003.htm
is it worth tuning a car like if its a daily driver?
Like my car is an IS250 so like I just want it to be faster but maintain the smoothness.
sorry for spamming and not getting my ideas all in one place but is there really a big difference in a car that does 5 seconds vs a car that does 3.5 seconds?
Like honestly I've never really driven a car thats really fast, my parents have an odyseey and I got their Lexus IS250 as a hand me down.
Since you have experience and have included factors such as vehicle control (while I literally based life off of my fave car game "Midnight club los angeles", what do you think is an ideal time for a 0-100 for a fun car that's also drivable on road.
Also is a 7 second car decent for a daily driver (referring to the 2020 Lexus ES, which I hope I'll buy in 2027 lol).

All good brother. Because you're still young and just getting into life, I definitely agree with saving your money and investing as much as you can. Real estate is a great investment, but while in school even opening a tax free savings account and investing in some good companies would be beneficial. Because of Covid, it's created great opportunities in the stock markets with new industries developing or companies that haven't quite fully recovered. Either way the point is this is a crucial time in your life to be smart with your money. But in the same breath it's important to remember there's no such thing as mistakes, the illusion of choice makes you think that you could have done something different in the past to better your present life, when in actuality there was no choice and you will come to the same conclusion at any given fork in your road. Having this belief gives reassurance that you're always doing the "right" thing, even when it blows up in your face...
As far as your IS250, my personal opinion would be drive the car as is for now while still in school. I guarantee you drive a nicer vehicle than 75% of students at your school. At the very most I would consider the RR-Racing tune with their air intake and mayyybe an axle back exhaust when you get out of school. It will make the car definitely feel faster but also give good daily driving smoothness, and it will also give a new appreciation to a car that you would have driven for a couple years. But like I said before that's still a couple thousand dollars all said and done.
I would say a good healthy regular daily driver car should be around 5-7 sec 0-100kmh. Any faster and you're doing it for thrills. Which don't get me wrong There's nothing wrong with that, I love everything fast, but realistically it's unnecessary for a commuter car. The difference in a second 0-100kmh in huge. 5 seconds compared to 3.5 seconds is the different between feeling some G forces and G forces snapping your neck back. I recently went for a ride in a Tesla and didn't prepare myself for when it took off, my neck hurts just thinking about it.
If you get the opportunity I suggest trying out some different cars to get an idea of speed, either going for dealership test drives or if you know/see someone with a nice car, ask for a ride then check what the power-to-weight is so you get an idea. When I had my 240sx I don't know how many random people would just come up to me and ask to go for a ride, which I never had a problem with as long as I wasn't busy.
If you have any other questions or need advice follow lexytheslow on Instagram and just DM me on there, will respond much quicker.

Thanks so much man, really appreciate that you took the time to give me all this info
I honestly dont know anything about cars lol, but I love cars, like growing up and until now, I even still play old car games such as MidnightClub Los Angeles.
The main thing I really want in my Lexus, is for it to be a 5 sec 0-100 (dont know if thats possible),
Besides that, Im willing to spend a good amount of money on the car but def not gonna do that 10-12 g swap,
For now I really want to get custom headlights, taillights, and my paint isnt in the best condition so I might get the car repainted either black, red again, or maybe white. Def also want some black wheels, and for the interior just get LEDs and a star light roof (would cost like $100 max including labour I believe).
Im quite interested in that exhaust system tbh
Lastly, I might upgrade to an IS350 from the 2014 generation, since that was the car I really wanted, but settled on the 2nd gen IS250 since I couldnt afford the newer ones (still love the second generation, its beautiful).
Do you have any websites or youtube channels or any place from which I could learn more about cars?
Also which Lexus is worth buying as a daily driver that you could tune up to a higher hp?
Thanks so much man!
Trust me, you don't want a faster car. I normally just stroll on the forums for fun and never made an account but I saw your comment and had to make one. Despite your car seeming slow, it's plenty to get in trouble. Keep your car until you have a stable job after college then do whatever you want. I got my 3rd gen IS250 F-sport at the age of 17 as a hand me down, and used to be into getting my car to 400-500whp and have it look nice. So I know how you feel. But I got hit with 2 major tickets, and am now looking at a $600 a month for insurance when I hit 18 (and that's all the way to the age of 25), costing me a total of about 57k USD throughout the years. Keep the car's engine stock, do some minor mods such as wheels, coils, and head/tail-lights. There's absolutely no reason for a car over 200whp as a daily. You would get in trouble and risk paying a **** ton of money in the long run. If you really want to go fast, build a track car for the sole purpose for tracking. keep two separate cars and stay out of trouble.
P.S. Also if you really want to learn the technical sides of cars, watch Engineering explained for knowledge about how car work/run, ChrisFix for maintaining them, and Kyle.Engineers if you want to learn about aero dynamics and the functions of certain things. Donut media is really good at briefing things about cars, but it's mainly about entertainment. They mainly give you a summary about 10-40% of what the actual part does.

Reason: Clarity
Absolutely agree to all of this.
It honestly comes down to being responsible. I know in your late teens early 20's, being responsible is pretty low on list of things to do. Been there, done that, have a record from it. Also, everyone (and I'm speaking in a generic sense) likes a loud car for booting around town, yeah? Yeah, F*$K that $*!T. Why? Why would you want everyone in a 2 mile radius knowing exactly when you're going to break the law? If you wanted to be a goon on the streets and get away with it, get something electric or something with 8 mufflers. Once you modify your vehicle to make it loud, you've made a vow to yourself to short shift, and not be a total a$$ when out in daily public life.
I live on the edge of a town and my balcony faces a main road that connects the next city over and I see it almost weekly. Cop sits hidden in parking lot, loud car takes off from the stop lights and rips through 4 gears, cop pulls him over at the top of the hill, sometimes tow truck is involved.
Just go to your local track or big open parking lots where cops and owners won't mind as much. Get permission and hoon it up!
** My car will be going to the race shop after the holidays for roll cage, alignment, and dyno. Updates will be coming in the new year **
Was reading about PUA stuff, when I remembered how you taught me how to throw negs, when we used to talk on instagram, and all that fragrance help you gave me.
Everything going fine with you? Can't find you on IG for a while and got worried.
