Damn 22kg is that what's needed or recommended to control the weight of the GSF?
Without knowing the motion ratios, the spring rates between two different platforms are meaningless. The suspension on the RC F and the GS F in the rear isn't coilover shock from the factory. They are configured like a 1950's Chevrolet with the springs and shocks completely divorced to save space for a bigger trunk. So comparing the spring rates you are used to seeing on the IS F makes no sense at all.
I'm guessing that the divorced set-up compromised handling? compared to a true coil over shock set-up from factory to make room for a bigger trunk. Could this be why they developed the TVD to compensate for the outdated rear set-up?
No, it doesn't inherently compromise handling. It just makes the calculations for shocks and springs completely different and separate where they are not when the spring and shock are concentric. The biggest challenge with this kind of setup is finding springs in increments that are useful. Coilover suspensions have many standard sized springs in a wide range of rates where these custom OEM setups may not have any significant selection and you are forced to make due with what little there is available.
