CJITTY's Build Thread II
I found a way how to use the iVIC-5D for Android with an iPhone 5:
How to fully integrate your smartphone in a Lexus: Mirror iPhone & Android screens
Me: "Well, ya see....this here 600 can deliver the game live thanks to Vaistech and an Android Galaxy Phone"

Basics:
- $449 from Vaistech.com (on sale)
- $65 install charge by Geek Squad Mobile at BestBuy. Took about 2 hours..much of that was playing around with settings I could of done at home. Install only involves getting access to back of nav screen and oem head unit for the plug n play connections..no splicing or anything required. I figured if they install on my CPO car and break something..its on them n ot me lol. But they did a great job.
Current gripes i have..could be since i am still learning everything:
- Can't run Android apps like Google Navigation on NAV screen while listening to oem SAT/FM/AM/CD/HDD. I can only listen to audio coming from my phone while using those apps that display on NAV screen. The iVic treats it as another source..similar as if I had an additional CD changer. So it appears if I am on a road trip and want to use Waze or Google Navigstion, Iwill need to add music liblibraries to my phone or stream Internet radio to do both at same time..not what I expected to be honest.
- Battery depletion even when plugged in could be an issue on long trips. Phones like the Galaxy Note 2 require 2.0 amps of charging. I can only max out as USB charging when using this iVic but the HDMI processing and constant on screen is a battery killer and its like a slow drip of battery drain but it will never be more to compensate the power it spends..at least that is the case for powerful smart phones.
- Still trying to figure out how to make the iVic return back to Android screen automatically after backing up the car. Since I have self parking, my backup camera still works like oem..but after shifting back into drive the screen defaults to oem nav map..so I have to hit Disc/Aux to return back to Android screen.
I will say that Vaistech has some great people always willing to help after the sale. I am calling on Monday to make sure I did all the setup correctly. Some of this maybe a limitation of the device or my ignorance. I also need to make sure I have latest firmware flashed to it..which is a nice feature they have to allow owners to update their units as they keep up with Android OS pushes.
Hope that info helps. I still think it is a great product that continuosly gets better. I just need to get more music on my phone and quit bishin lol

Celebrating Lexus & Toyota from Around the Globe
With iVIC and VOSSEN she is unbreakable and unbeatable and unbelievable.
The one and only toy I'm missing is driving drunken drivers home w/o taken their licence. I noticed they are working on that. On the ottoman I don't care but would feel more secure
