hi everyone,
If GOD helps me, i will start this project asap. I want to build an gs460 to compete with e63 amg. What performance mods for big hps are available for this car? I think forced induction isnt the best route, because of engine compression. do you think this engine can be enlarged to 6.2 liter? i need at least 490hp. i believe it comes from factory with around 360hp or 380hp.i need only 120hp
the exhaust i will get from c63. i want that roar.
what do you recommend for the suspension?
"only 120hp", that's about 33% increase over factory. With the money spent on boring out the motor and machine work, I'd believe you would be right in the market for a nice turbo kit. I think with 10 - 12 pounds of boost your car will easily see that number; with supporting mods of course.
Even with higher compression, you can still use forced induction with the correct tune. You're tuning gap will just be a bit smaller.
errr you have long way to go... gs460 is only 340hp, that's 150 for you to reach 490, that's almost like 50% increase. i don't see how you can reach there unless you use FI (if you can get it to tune) or you do some insane major engine modification, and followed with reliability issues.

Please give me your opinion.
Buy an e63 or m5. Or as others have mentioned, do a motor swap.

good luck
correct me if i'm wrong, but in order to use FI, you definitely need to tune the ECU? and again, correct me if i'm wrong, but lexus ECU can't be cracked? if that's the case, getting FI would be a waste of money and time unless the OP went with an aftermarket (or stand alone) ECU to control the A/F ratio and all the stuff that goes with it.
Well it was done on on 2 3gen GS in the states so it must be doable. I think will be lucky to hit 420 hp or slightly less. Greddy had a car in the states tuned with the e-manage. They have a roots style s/c that's perfect for the V8 GS. I'm talking to Greddy to see how I can get my hands on it and how to tune the car. I'm just wondering if it will be worth the cost when its all said and done.
Passnu, was it you who had a harness up for sale? Can the 3GS V8's ECU be tuned? As you know, my GS460 is detuned to 322hp from the factory! And my A/F ratio is about 8 to 9 which is insanely rich!
Any hope for me? Especially with my catless exhaust system and cold air intake now! I expect to be running richer.

Yes I have a custom harness to plug into your ECU for sale. You could do a larger intake and have the car tuned with your custom exhaust and intake I would push a 3.5" intake like SRT did on the 2 gen

if you mask out most of the stock ecu, you can always run standalone setup and use that to control things. that's how a lot of boosted lexus work out there (look at all the boosted 1sc, 2gs, and 1is). it's a lot of work of course, but doable.
and factory ecu is also part of a big big problem even if you want to play with NA and boost power
engine swap. 2JZ ala the drift car someone posted on here not too long ago.
My thoughts. The ECU can't be cracked. We also don't know if the 8 speed can handle 500hp. We know it can take 416 (IS F). We know the CVT can take 438hp (LS 600h L)
I just don't think any current Lexus engine would perform at that level, even the 5.0 liter. Maybe bore and stroke the 5.0 to 5.5 liters or so but not sure if that can be done!
Good luck, very ambitious project.
Another thought. Somehow fit the 5.0 liter and the hybrid powertrain and tune the batteries for more power.
