Default wheels with lips...

I've had my Blitz Z2's on my SC3 for about a week now. I absolutly love them (and I think my car does too by the way it looks now ). I have one question though. For those with deep dish rims, how do u clean the lips? My rear lip is around 4"-4.5" and i caan't seem to keep it clean after its been washed. There always seems to be some dirty water behind the rim that leaks through onto the lip (the wheels are true 2 piece, so they aren't solid.) The only solution I have found is to back up and pull forward to get all the water off the rim. If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know (BTW: Sorry if this post is confusing)

Hi MyLexusSC300:

I know what you need. I have the same problem with my 3-piece reverse lip wheels. The following is what I use to suck the remaining water out of the wheel (front, back and lug nut holes). I purchased this item from Tower Hobbies for my R/C. They are currently out of stock but I am sure you can find similar product in your local hobby shops or hardware stores. You can also go to the pharmacy and purchase ear cleaning bulbs (but hard to suck the water behind the face though). To suck the water from the outside I would leave the nozzle at the bottom where the lip meet the center screw area and behind the face also where the water pools. Afterward I would use an old chamois to suck the remaining water from the face and outside lip. You can also use the bulb to blow air to get water out of hard to get areas. Some people use disposable or refillable compress air cans which can be quite expensive and inconvienent if you do not have a compressor to refill.

well that's interesting. i got 3-piece wheels and no water can go back and forth. i'd never have thought there was enough space there for water to go through.

just let it dry before you drive, perhaps? or toss a towel and soak up what you can

Takes too long for my to dry. My Lowenhart BR-5 has middle deep channel behind face and near the inside edge of the rim therefore about cup of water accumulate after washing the car. By sucking majority of the water out behind and front of the face accelerates the drying process.

I think he's sold his wheels fellas, but anyway................

Wipe them down with a M/F towel after drying off the rest of the car. I too sometimes get this leftover water, and my new M/F towel did the trick - sucked it all up, and was ultra soft on the lips.

Putting a light coat of wax on the wheels also helps the water bead up and wipe up easily.

lucky for me I can stick my hand thru the wheel and kinda of brush the water out from the rear. I know what you mean...if you don't get that water out, it will leak thru and leave a water mark on your lip.

I usually take a ride around the block and then dry off the excess. Centrifugal force will get that water right off! Don't do this on hot days though. The water spray will dry too fast.
