Why did blue applicator pad turn black

Default Why did blue applicator pad turn black

what did i do and did anything happen to the paint i never waxed a car until a week ago so i am a newbie to this stuff worried so took pics thinking maybe someone would know what i did or have any idea as to why it turned black

That's what happens when a car finish is not polish in a long time or never. If you polishing then I recommend you change out the pads on every panel with a fresh one by looking at this. It's a normal process when it's not done to a car. Did you wash and clay before you polish?

what kind of prep did you do before your lsp?

If you used a paint cleaner or cleaner wax, then this is perfectly normal.

I've washed a silver car with dawn, iron x'd, then clayed and when I put the paint cleaner on, it still made my white pad black...

If your SC is onyx black (single stage from factory)... that will happen.

That is either paint transfer (as noted) or contamination. What type of wax were you using?

i did use bodywork shampoo to wash the car i only washed the ca did not clay

have you ever clayed the car before?

after a wash and dry, run your hand over the horizontal surfaces. If it doesn't feel like glass then you probably should clay the car. You'll have to rewax it though b/c the clay will take that off too...
