Does anyone know what kind of product to use on dirty exhaust tips? Mine are not chrome, but i would like to see that original silver shine that used to be there. Right now they've tinted yellowish with specks of dirt throughout. Any help would be appreciated.

CHanged mine
I gave up trying to renew the exhaust tips on my 1992 SC400. I bought a new pair from:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW
I put them on last weekend. They look very good. The price is right too. My mechanic helped me put them on. We used some sheet metal screws to mount them.
I am happy with the result

I was looking at these but wasn't sure how they'd look on my car...can you post up a pic of the rear? I curious how they look on your car!

Ah, if I'm not mistaken, those go directly over your stock exhaust tips. Mine are not. I don't want to buy an entirely new exhaust setup, I love the sound and tone that comes out with this setup.

Any suggestions on cleaning? I guess they aren't THAT dirty, but a nice shine would be a good touch.

Any type of metal/chrome/aluminum polish should do the trick. Alot easier and cheaper than new tips

I haven't been able to get em that "like new" finish but have had good results using NVR DULL and Mothers chrome polish.

Thanks, I used some Ajax strength cleaner/dissolver and a little bit of old Metal cleaner/polisher i found in the basement to get all of the dirt and discoloration off. Superpats is right, they dont have that look "like new" but it's certainly an upgrade from the old grimey look. Thanks guys!

The procedure was not difficult, all in all it would take 20 minutes to do a thorough cleaning. I was a little rushed (hence shabby results). I did it in about ten. Next time i was the car, i plan on finishing the job.

1. Find yourself some Ajax w/bleach or metal polisher/cleaner. Make sure its a powder form.
2. Dump some of this powder into a container top, or a scrap dish.
3. Add a little bit of water, just a few drops, until you can get a thick paste.
4. Hose down the exhaust on the outside, to wet the pipes.
5. Use a sponge, or brillow pad (i used a brillow pad) And scoop some paste.
6. Apply the paste around the discolored/dirty area on the exhaust. (Careful! Don't get it on your paint!)
7. Allow it to soak on the exhaust for about 1 minute.
8. Take a brush(i used a brush with tough bristles), or harsh pad, and scrub the pipe on the outside. Don't use anything too harsh or scrub too hard, you may leave scratches in the metal.
9. Hose it off!
10. Repeat if desired.

The results are quite pleasing!! It surprisingly changes the image (makes it better looking ) of the car from the rear quarter viewpoint with much cleaner tips!!
