2017 Lexus NX200t Lives Up to Its Looks, Say Critics
Luxurious on the inside, high-tech features throughout, an enjoyable ride in the curves…the new NX200t can do it all, says Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The 2017 Lexus NX200t is one of the few crossovers on the road that stands out because of its daring, bold looks. While the exterior clearly shows where Lexus is heading in the future, how does the rest of the SUV hold up? Pittsburgh Post-Gazette got behind the wheel of a NX200t to find out.
Right out of the gate, the outlet claims that the vehicle is “everything I ever thought a Lexus would be.” And to make sense of that, the review goes into great detail about the vehicle, starting with its engine. “A 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine that creates 235 horsepower remains a marvelous feat, when considering power output of even five years ago,” says Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
With the engine, the crossover can “move quickly when pressed,” which is better than what other cars in the segment can muster. And the vehicle’s exciting characteristic carries over on windy roads. “Winding country roads can be taken at some impressive speeds, and body roll is kept to a minimum,” says Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Obviously, the NX200t isn’t the same as a sports car, “but for a midsize crossover, this is nice.”
The interior of the crossover is typical Lexus, blending luxury and technology together. While the Luxury Package may cost quite a bit of money, an extra $4,765, it’s worth the cost as it packs “black shadow wood trim, heated/ventilated front leather seats, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers, and moonroof,” says Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
There are some downsides to the NX200t, though. These include the vehicle’s fuel economy, which only mustered 21 mpg on premium fuel, the terrible LED headlights, and Lexus’ frustrating touchpad. In the end, “the NX200 is nice enough and fun enough, and reliable,” says the outlet. That’s more than good enough to make the crossover a great option in a crowded segment.
