Lexus LC 500 Is a Vision Indeed
New Video Series from Lexus Shows how the Initial Vision of the LC 500 Has Become a Beautiful Reality
The eminently-forthcoming Lexus LC is something that no other car maker in the world can pull off.
That’s the immediate impression we get from the Lexus UK videos below, which — after a quick but effective exhaust note from the LC 500’s naturally-aspirated, 471-horsepower V8 — begins with the following line: “There are many luxury brands. But there is something Lexus can make…that no others can.”
And that’s not necessarily gloating, although Chief Engineer Koji Sato does follow up his stoic delivery with a knowing look into the camera. He then describes the initial vision behind the bold and beautiful 2+2 luxury coupe: imagining a Lexus without limits.
Not to be out-dramatized, Chief Designer Tadao Mori soon follows with his own two cents, which also help illustrate how important the LC is for Lexus: “This car is the next chapter for Lexus — the beginning.”
So, come spring, when the LC 500 hits show rooms, it looks like everything is going to be reset for Lexus. No more rules. No more limits. No more boring luxury cars.
Sato and Mori obviously felt liberated by a life without limits. And the LC 500 is a pure and beautiful example of that spirit.
“When you strip away everything but the core, it will always lead to beauty,” says Sato.
Beauty indeed. That’s a sentiment that is only bolstered by the second video. “Lexus LC: The Design” employs even more engineering wizards to walk us through some highly-informative graphics about the car’s perfect marriage of design and engineering.
