1. It's Been 18 Years

Even since Lexus first launched its "December to Remember" campaign in 1998, the big red bow has been in the spotlight. Now the big red bow on a Lexus is expected in their commercials every December as well as dealership's showrooms and on top of a brand new Lexus gift.

2. Dealers Want Them

Lexus will supply dealerships with two bows, but that is not enough for the stock of cars. They will buy more bows out-of-pocket to make sure they have enough for both the showroom and their customers.

3. They Aren't Cheap

Along with the purchase of the car, the bow will need to be added to the total price. The bigger bows will cost around $500 while the smaller somewhere near $85. Although, it has been said that dealerships won't sell them, but there are many other bow manufacturers that you can buy it from.

4. The Can Be Borrowed

While it is more common to buy a bow during December, many will also borrow a bow throughout the year. One forum member has said, you will need to ask before buying, as they will sometimes lie about lending them. Other forum members have added that they were able to borrow them just for the pictures.

5. It Has Made December a Big Hit

Many wonder if people actually give cars as gifts during December. A study back in 2014 found that in a five-year average, December is the top months for sales. For Lexus alone, since the December to Remember ads began, December has become their best month. In 2010, Lexus sold 17,000 new and 41,890 used cars. Surely the bow has something to do with it.
