2018 Lexus LC 500

Due in Spring, Lexus LC 500 Promises a Lighter Body, 10-Speed Automatic Transmission and Power to hit 60 in 4.4 Seconds

The new Lexus LC has made us all drool for nearly a year now, and it’s finally getting ready to hit showrooms. To prepare for the coming sale in the spring (possibly May), Lexus has released all-new details about the new car. Also, the first reviews are starting to roll in. Let’s dive into some of the numbers, shall we?

The LC 500 shares the same 5.0-liter V8 found in the mighty GS F, but it’s now mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Horsepower sits at 471 ponies with torque coming in at 398 lb-ft. All of that is wrapped in a new skin that is composed almost entirely of aluminum to keep weight down. Final weight is quoted at 4,280 pounds.

According to Lexus, all those numbers equate to a luxurious 2+2 coupe that will hit 60 mph from a standstill in just 4.4 seconds. It should travel onto a top speed of 168 mph, which seems slow, to be honest. It is an artificially-limited speed, but you would imagine that Lexus could have let a car that is ostensibly a competitor (in terms of pricing) to the Porsche 911 and Jaguar F-Type have legs that are a touch longer.

It likely doesn’t matter what its top speed is anyhow. Just looking at the LC 500, we don’t get dreams of blasting down the back straight at Road Atlanta. Rather, we can see ourselves a few hours into to an epic road trip down some of the most scenic highways in the country. Inside and out the Lexus LC 500 oozes grand tourer — a machine that is fast, but not at the cost of comfort. A car that is striking to look at, but never ostentatious or gaudy.

We talked previously about how the Lexus GS F is so good because it perfectly marries the performance and luxury sides of Lexus. The LC 500 looks like it might do that even better, as well take the crown for “Best Lexus” while doing so.

Stay tuned to Club Lexus for all the latest developing news on the 2017 Lexus LC 500.
