2025 Lexus GX550 On Portal Axles

This 2025 Lexus GX550 build was put together with a ‘no expenses spared’ mentality, and that clearly shows up in every regard.

It still feels like the proverbial paint is barely dry on the completely redesigned Lexus GX, which debuted for the 2024 model year. However, the truth is, we’re now on the cusp of seeing 2026 models hit dealer lots, and there are quite a few new GXs roaming the streets today – a testament to the fact that Toyota really nailed the design of the newest version of that particular SUV. As for this 2025 Lexus GX550, well, it seems as if the new owner wanted something a bit more serious than the standard factory version has to offer, however.

In a recent video from the YouTube channel Dissent Off-Road, we get a closer look at this rather killer 2025 Lexus GX550 build, which was purchased by a person that lives in Malaysia via a dealer in California, after which it was shipped directly to that shop for modifications. The owner clearly didn’t have a budget in mind, as they basically gave Dissent an open checkbook and told them to go wild. The results of that endeavor, well, they clearly speak for themselves.

Those upgrades include Dissent’s front and rear bumpers, rock sliders, and roof rack, right off the bat. The front piece is modular and features triple LED light pods at each corner, a winch, along with the factory Overtrail skid plate, a tie-in plate, and a Rigid light bar in the center. The suspension is even more trick, with a set of 74 Weld portal axles, coupled with a full Icon Stage 10 CDEEV setup. Pretty much all of the lift stems from the portal axles – around 3.88 inches of additional height – save for around 3/4-inch that comes from the suspension itself.

A set of Perry bump stops helps that particular package’s off-road efforts, and according to our host, the entire setup rides pretty amazing, too, thanks to the extended travel of the Icon setup, specifically – giving the SUV around 11-12 inches of total travel, in fact. Under the hood, all of the requisite wiring required for these things is neatly integrated, and it’s all sealed up nicely, a request from the customer – who tends to travel through bodies of water frequently. That’s also why the 2025 Lexus GX550 touts a pair of custom-built snorkels, too.

In terms of rolling stock, this 2026 Lexus GX550 features a set of 37-inch Nitto Trail Grappler tires wrapped around 18-inch Icon Recon Pro wheels. There are loads of other cool touches as well – a pair of Pelican cases neatly integrated into the roof rack, fender liners, bronze accents (to match the wheels), and a dual swing-out spare tire carrier, paired with a couple of Jerry cans and loads of interior upgrades, to name just a few. If nothing else, this might just be the coolest new GX build we’ve seen yet, though we’re sure there are many more to come, given this model’s rapidly rising popularity.
