Lx570 steering questions vgrs
Hi!
I used to drive Lexus Lx470 2007 model year till 2013... I was quite happy with that car... after I have traded in and got new LX570 2013. I am not happy with the stiffness of the steering wheel, seems to be quite stiff after lx470.
I really enjoyed the Light and Precise steering wheel and handling of lx470.
Lx570 has the same system VGRS system as lx470.... is it possible to adjust or reprogramme the system to make it lighter?
p.s. please don't advise me pumping muscles))

Again they are two different animals. I also owned the 470 and it has glassy smooth power steering.
My 2017 LX, even in comfort mode, does not have as powerful power steering as the LX.
I think if you drive it for a while you will see it all works well together.

Well.. i have been driving the lx570 for almost 3 years... and still missing my steering on lx470..
Yakim, yeah it has gotten stiffer...but less precise and poor handling..
If you compare all the european car producers such as GL550, range rovers, porsche cayenne, audi q7 new.. all of them got such a light and precise steering...
I suppose no one cares about it in this forum))

I do not wish it to be so light and wish to still "feel" something and that is not that easy in a luxury 6000lb SUV these days.

I compare a 200 series Toyota product to the same stuff you did...
...a 200 will surpass any you've named in off-road capability.
...Range Rover, notably unreliable as warranty nears it's end. Now made in India. What could go wrong?
...Porsche, a variation of the tinny Tiguan (sp?). Though a 10 cylinder diesel with > 500 ft. lb. of torque is interesting.
...Audi may have reliability "issues" and needs more than a few dealer-only tools to repair.
But they do have such light and precise steering.
A 100 series will definitely out handle a 200 in the twisties.

I have been driving my LX 570 for eight years and I still miss that LX 470 steering. That was one sweet SUV, just glided over washboard roads. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?

well...that is why I bought Lx570 hahaha)) I just meant that all other car makers are switching from stiff steering from to light steering.... and light steering doesn't mean that it is not precise..
I am comparing lx570 with the lx470... lx470 had such a great steering and brakes...i miss it

I also have fond memories of my 470. It seemed to isolate you from all outside stimuli. Steering was glassy smooth, you never felt the motor and it seemed to be more quiet inside the cabin. They were a marvel.

LX570 is one of the last vehicles which use a hydraulic power steering. Today almost all new cars have an electric power steering. The main reason is that an electric power steering helps to reach a slightly better fuel economy. With electric power steering it's also easier to add some active lane assistants (like in the new RX350). But the hydraulic systems definitely give you a better control; you get feedback from the wheels. Although the LX steering is stiffer I am quite happy with it.

In the same vein, I can fix a broken throttle cable 100 miles from nowhere. Fly-by-wire...not so much.
