Default Steering clunk - normal?

Often when driving 5-10 mph and starting to turn the steering wheel or rapidly changing direction of the steering wheel, I feel a "clunk" in the wheel. It feels like the steering effort decreases momentarily and then suddenly increases. I suspect it may just be an anomaly of the electric variable-effort power steering assist as it adjusts the amount of assist abruptly. However, I'm trying to determine whether this is "normal"/typical. Has anyone else experienced this?

Nope - not here either. During rapid transitions, I feel the weight of the rear end shifting which makes for dicey handling, likely due to the battery being pretty high up, but nothing from the steering wheel / front end.

My steering is fine. Nothing strange going on there.
