Guess it's time to hunt down a new trans
I was driving my 92 SC300 this evening and the trans started acting pretty funny. Here recently, it'd start to act a little weird, like hard to shift when at a stop light and accelerating from a stop but it'd shift out and run fine after. Figured it might be something screwy with it in sport mode so I put it back in normal, then it did it a time or two over the next few drives.
Anyways, today I'm driving about 60mph down the highway and all of a sudden the engine just starts revving like it's in neutral and the speed slowly starts dropping. It never would go above about 30ish mph before the engine just started revving beyond that point w/ no extra speed or acceleration. I tried putting it in sport mode, back to normal, took the overdrive off, put it in Drive 2 and nothing worked. Even after I got back to my street, I shut it off and turned it back on to see if that might help and still did it.
Guess now it's time to go ahead and do that 1JZ VVTI w/o auto swap, or just get an R154 behind the stock motor, then down the road buy a 1JZ and already have a sweet *** trans. This way for not too much I could put a w58 behind it and a little more, an R154. Then when it comes time for the motor, I can buy just the motor itself w/o having to try and source a tranny at the same time.

or - rebuild your Auto Trans - obviously upgrade it - and never look back
But that being said, are you for sure that its your Transmission and not your Differential/Axle(s) ?
