F 8 Speed in the turns (update 5-21, w/pics)
Last week I had an opportunity to take the F up a highway here in So. Cal known for it’s turns and twists. I can tell you I was totally, and completely happy with the performance of this car and trans. I came to the F from 3 mustangs and 2 Vettes over the years, all with either 5 or 6 speed Manuals. I have never enjoyed the run up Ortega Hwy more than I did with the F and the gearbox that Lexus put in it. I can tell you they really did their homework when it came to this trans. I drove most of the miles in sport mode and manual, towards the end I left it in sport mode and D, and also used the paddles and was amazed at how well that even worked. The trans will hold the gear until you used the paddles again or hit the upper level of the shift point. As I said the engineers really did their homework, and this car is a pleasure to drive.
Here are some pics of our 5-21-09 run up Ortega.

Very well said.
Speaking of Ortega, is all the construction done yet?

Yes, the road is in great shape. You know Ortega Hwy is only half of the run, the second half begins in Temecula and goes through Warner Springs, Julian, and to the Palomar Observatory. If you have never done it you really need to check it out. The F was made for that run. It is about 3 hours of performance driving in the curves, totally a blast.
See the links below for the second half, I found them on streetfire.

Man this thead is making me miss the great roads outside of SD. I used to do the road heading down the backside of Julian heading down into the desert. Then do a run through Borrego Springs then back up through the mountains. Palomar is a great run to the top... You guys suck. I need to take a road trip back to my home town.
