Default 2008 RX350 iPhone 6 Integration

In an attempt to make it "as easy as possible" for the Queen to use her iPhone 6 in her RX, I installed an
iSimple Connect interface iSimple Connect interface
along with a Proclip RX350 vent mount and iPhone cradle with built in Lighning cable plug.

The total cost was about $200 and worked out very nicely. The iSimple Connect installation was easy and required ZERO mods to the car (no wire cutting or hole drilling). I did however choose to cut one hole on the inside of a vent duct allowing me to run the iPhone cable thru the vent for a more clean look.

The Proclip mount and cradle were a bit pricey, but the mount is custom for the RX350, and the adjustable cradle with integrated charging cable is really slick. With the iPhone cable coming out the vent and a 3.5mm AUX (headphone) plug in the glovebox, there are no wires dangling around the dash.

Very nice! How sturdy is the mount? Does it shake while driving?

I don't actually drive the Queen's car (not often anyway...), but I can't imagine the mount shaking or vibrating.

As you can see from the pics, the mount attaches to the inside edges of the vent (not the movable vents). The mount is a tight interference fit and must be "forced" into place. It also has adhesive strips to provide further security.

Additionally the cradle uses a screw (in the center) to adjust tightness of the cradle to the mount itself. It really is a nice set up, but for around $90, it ought to be...

Nice!

How is the iPhone6 + iSimple's audio quality?
Where did you buy the cradle and iSimple interface?
Where did you mount the reset switch?

Don't have the iSimply myself but it's a wired interface so audio quality is as good as it gets.

There are a number of vendors that carry iSimple products. You can purchase direct from ProClip.

What he said: sound quality is 100%, and just Google "ISTY651", you will find many options for buying the iSimple. I got my cradle and mount directly from Proclip; believe I was able to find a 15% coupon somewhere...

And I ended up not mounting the reset switch anywhere. I left it poking out between the kick panel and carpet in the passenger foot-well; it's not visible without getting down there and looking for it.

BTW, many videos and write-ups on removing the factory radio will warn you not to drop the screws into the center console when removing them. I tried to be careful... I even used a magnet... However, not only did I drop a screw into the "black hole center console", I even dropped my magnet in there. In the below photo, the orange tip magnet is the one I dropped into the console. The bendable magnet is what I bought to get everything out of the console; thankfully it worked and I didn't have to start taking stuff apart.
