Front driver side low beam headlight is out. I am assuming that the AFS warning light is the indication that the problem exists. Local garage mechanic told me it is not a $50.00 bulb but a $1000.00 wattage amplifer? If this is truely the issue, then why do the other front headlights work on the same side? I own a 2006 RX 330 with 48k miles. Please provide feedback. Thx

Your emchanic is referring to the ballast, which powers up the low beam HID bulb. Doing a search as stated above will give you much information. Make sure you read through all before spending a whole bunch of money. Also, you should re-seal the headlamp assembly also desribed in the forums doing a search. Good luck.
I noticed heavy condensation inside a headlamp and within 2 months that low beam stopped working. I took it to the dealer and the entire headlamp was replaced and they washed the car. Upon pick up the other headlamp has condensation and it was replaced, they did not wash the car the 2nd time.
It was not a hassle at all besides the normally poor service the dealer provides (having to follow up on them if they ordered the part, did it arrive, etc.)
