looks like 2010-2011 steering columns have this issue. Mine happens when I turn the wheel. Of course, dealer can never replicate the issue when I bring it in. I have made a video and plan to show them.
The HS250h also suffers from similar problems and you can search in that forum. I am sure they share the same part with the issue

Check if your VIN is before the production change VIN.
If yes, take it to the dealer before the basic warranty expires.

No, our VIN does not match either one. We were also outside the 50K standard manufature warranty however, we purchased a 7 year 100K warranty and it covered the cost of replaceing the entire steering column which was $3K. I have to admit I am not big on getting these extended warranties but both times I did they paid off big time. This being the second.

How do you you know if you VIN is before the production change VIN
According to the TSB for AWD it should be before 2T2BK1BA#BC088127, mine has a 2T2BK1BA#AC... pattern for VIN.
This has been annoying for quite a while on my 2010, very noticeable creaking just maneuvering in the driveway.
edit..What needs to be replaced if i missed the 50k window of the TSB?

The last 6 digits of the VIN are what they use to determine the production included in the TSB. You did not include that most important part in your post. If your number is within the range listed then it is included.
However you are many miles and years too late for any dealer to probably cover your vehicle under that TSB even if it was included.
A TSB is basically a revised service procedure for mechanics to follow and not really an extended warranty coverage, unless it specifically states that in the TSB, such as this one, but you are way outside its limits.
There are many threads discussing steering column noises and solutions to solve them. Just search steering + column in the search box on the right side of the main page.
For instance see these for starters.
