Default steering wheel noise

#My steering is making two different sound and i need your opinion.
those noise come and go every 2 days and i couldnt reproduce them at the dealer 1 week ago.
my car is still under warranty until april 2018
i have posted video on YouTube to get some opinion.

there is popping-knocking noise (intermediate shaft ?) and if you listen carefully there is a squeaking whinning in the background (maybe the pump)

Chances are your steering column needs to be replaced. What year is your Rx? 2010-2012 had issues with that and mine was replaced at dealership.

Yeah, it's ISS. Good luck getting to the upper mounting bolt. Btw, there was TSB or recall on it on Canadian Highlander models. Might be the case for Lexus also.

Got it. So much worth for passwords and stuff.

Btw, there are several claims online to fix that ISS noise by simply repacking or relubricating or even disconnecting one end and moving ISS up/down few times, to reposition grease inside of it.
I injected mine with lithium grease, via shaft rubber boot and with syringe. I had very very faint signs of it coming, so I did that.

Well, from my experience, you feel it either doing what you did or, when turning and coming off curb edge. When wheels are turned and hit a bump. That's when splines in ISS bind and clunk.

When to the dealer this morning. Went for a test drive and he said the noise is coming from the shaft.
They will change the steering column under warranty (3000$ plus labor) because its an all in one piece and they cant replace the shaft alone.

I had the sam issue with my 2010 RX 450h and it was the Steering Column needed to be replaced. The tech, whom I'm friendly with, didn't seem surprised. Seemed like this was not the first time.

They can. It's simply faster to replace column "as one piece". Getting to shaft's upper bolt is MAJOR PITA.

Some drivers may never notice it. The previous owner of my rx bought the car in 2010 with 8 yr extended warranty and never fixed it. Same for the intermediate shaft.
