Headlamp on warning?
Okay a NooB here....
We picked up a '10 RX350 for my bride a couple of weeks ago. We discovered the lack of Homelink backlight- I searched here and confirmed. I've also studied the owner's manual and searched here- is there not a warning (chime, buzzer, whatever) if the headlamps are left on? I realize that they should be left in 'auto' , but there are times when we will want to turn on the headlights (actually, I discovered this while looking for a Homelink light!).

Headlights off
I'm not sure about this, but one time I saw that I had left my headlight on (not auto) when I was headed into the bank. I figured I wouldn't be long, so continued with my errand. When I came back out about two minutes later, they were off!
Check it out and see if I'm correct.

Your headlights should be set to 'auto' on. Yours was probably that way when you received it. You have to go into the settings to turn that off if you choose to but usually it's best to leave it. You can also set the time they remain on, most are set for about 60 seconds I think.

Thanks all. When I was trying to figure out the Homelink light (or lack thereof) I had turned the headlights to "on" on the stalk and not "auto". I discovered about an hour later that the lights were still on. I thought that there would have been some warning chime but no. I went all through the owner's manual, but no sign of a headlight on warning. Strange.

No, I don't play soccer!
Welcome to CL, myred86.
A quick way to turn off the headlights is to hit the lock button on the key fob twice. Other than that, the headlights should turn themselves off automatically regardless of whether they're on auto or not. There is no chime but the headlight lamp will be on in the dash. I do a quick flip to DRL off and then back to auto if I want to turn them off immediately.

I have no need for them to remain on for a set period, and I frankly don't trust them to automatically turn off. That system can malfunction at which time you will have a dead battery when you return. My lights are set to turn off immediately upon opening the driver's door when in Auto mode.
