Default Auto Light Stay On

I don't usually set my headlights to auto on, but this was the only way to have the daytime running lights come on when you unlock the NX. I noticed yesterday when you turn off the NX the headlights do not turn off. I know that it turns off when I open the door, but I was waiting for my wife this time. I let it stay on to see how long it would take to turn off, but I finally manually turned it off after 5 minutes. I have it set to no delay for the headlights, so I am not sure why it stays on. I guess it might turn off after more than 5 minutes, but that seems excessive.

If you did not open and close the door with IGN off or ACC, they stay on, but will turn off after 20 minutes given the battery saver function. Take a look at page 213.

... and on Page 212:

Automatic light off system
  • When the headlights come on: The headlights and tail lights turn off 30 seconds after a door is opened and closed if the engine switch is turned to ACCESSORY mode or turned off. (The lights turn off immediately if {LOCK} on the key is pressed after all the doors are locked.)
  • When only the tail lights come on: The tail lights turn off automatically if the engine switch is turned to ACCESSORY mode or turned off and the driver’s door is opened. To turn the lights on again, turn the engine switch to IGNITION ON mode, or turn the light switch off once and then back to {parking lights} or {headlights} .

This "Coming-Home" lights duration can be configured as:
  1. Off
  2. 30 Seconds (default setting)
  3. 60 seconds
  4. 90 seconds

I have the coming home set to off. Its seems strange that the headlights will stay on for 20 minutes after the car is off and the driver's door has not been opened. I often pick up my wife after work and I sometimes wait 10-15 minutes.
