I'm not sure that is the right warning light, but check your brake fluid level to see if it is low.

My brake light was flashing and stay on yesterday too. I think it came from my front brake pads in my case. Good luck to both of us!

There is nothing about your front pads that would cause the brake light to come on other than the lowering of the fluid as they wear.
And it does sound like your RX is trying to tell you the brake fluid is low. If you checked it and it is, in fact, not low it is most likely brake reservoir cap which contains the sensor switch. Just unplug the sensor switch. If the problem goes away order a new brake reservoir cap with switch assembly. About $100.

I bought the reservoir cap with switch and front brake pads yesterday at Crown Lexus Ontario, CA. I pay $118 for the cap and $70 for the pads (before tax). Ask for some discount!

It's part # 84460-30040 and costs $86 at newlexusparts.com. That's for a 1999-2000 cap.
It looks like they changed the design in 01 and the cap is only $9. In 01 the wire for the sensor plugs in at the bottom of the reservoir and the cap just looks like a plain old cap. Where does your 99 plug in? I suspect it is at the cap.
This was a common problem with 1999-2000. I hope the 01 design is improved.

Thank you to all on this forum. My brake light stayed lit and then intermittently flashed and dinged. The diagnosis by my local shop was to replace the reservoir cap, since the brake fluid was topped off and after he unplugged the switch. Mikey00 has the correct part number and I ordered mine from park place lexus parts online for $88, free shipping. They had great service and the part was delivered within a week. The replacement looks like it will take all of 10-minutes. Btw, it is not a Toyota part as I had read in another blog, I check at the Toyota dealer when I purchased Type T-IV ATF for my '99 RX300.
