Default BRAKE warning light on

Besides the foot brake and brake fluid level, what else does the "BRAKE" sensor light cover? First sub-freezing morning, and drove less than one mile and the light comes on. I thought at first I had accidentally hit the foot brake, but it's still on. I check the brake fluid and it's at the full level.

Could it be the float is stuck or something, but then why would it be stuck low?

Any thoughts or experience? Thank you.

I think you are correct to suspect the brake fluid level sensor. If possible, check it's funtionality by disconnecting it and then checking it's resistance with an ohm-meter.

Agree with Bob, same thing happened to me, though I'd also get an occasionally dinging sound. I disconnected the level sensor and that was the issue.

Believe it or not, i got low pads that triggered the light too. I wanted to run it down further but the light kept coming back, of course the reservoir was full. But, good thing I decided to replace them. The problem is, the caliper rubber seal couldn't extend too far out when the pads get thinner; the more the seal stretched, the harder to fold it back when you compress the caliper for new pads. If it stretched far enough, it would get torn. I guess when caliper is too far out, it triggers the light too, assuming you don't have any fault in the brake system.
