Need Help - Pin sized hole in my High Pressure/Slimmer A/C Line on 2002 LX470
I have a Pin sized hole in my High Pressure/Slimmer A/C Line on a 2002 LX470. The OEM line would run ~$150 for a new one from the lexus dealer. Is the Toyota Landcruiser A/C line the same? If it is it should be cheaper if i go to a toyota dealership to pick it up. Also The dealership wants $1100 in labor. I found a shop that estimated the labor would be $300 but it was just a guestimate and i could end up shelling out $400 for the labor. Around me A-Len Radiator said they can splice/clamp the hole for $475.
Anyone have any experience with getting a hole in their A/C line?
The shop said they would need to cut the muffler and it would be at least 3-4 hours of labor. They said the a/c line runs in the frame and apparently a weld would not be a good idea since this is a high pressure line.
I am not buying that.... anyone know of a good welder in the Chicago Suburbs that could work on my line? It is aluminum or an alimunum alloy. I am having trouble locating a welder, which would be the route i would prefer most. I have a feeling a weld should hold up fine for many years at a substantially lower cost than replacing the whole line. Afterall i get to use the a/c 3 months out of 12.
Looking for any suggestions, help, or solutions.
Its frustrating to not have any a/c.
