Compare LX470 and LX570
I'm the owner of LX470 (2004) which is driven by my personal driver, and X5 BMW (2009) I drive myself.
LX470 was not used so much and was given to the driver recently, in March. Only about 32,000 miles, really. Untill now -2 breakages happened concerning just electronic parts, once DVD-system burned, I changed, second time some electronic board in the dashboard responsible for everything broke, was replaced. Totally, around 3000$ exp.
Mine is on 17" factory rims and is very soft and comfortable. Never nothing breaks from mechanical parts and never nothing bothered me. I'm satisfied with the quality.
I want to change with 570 and interested in the softness of ride, quality, is it shaking also as LX470. Please, compare these 2 LXs. The question is only for those members who owned both cars.

Pole Position
I owned four LX470 units before I purchased my first LX570.
To me the first LX570 was big and a little on the un-refined side in comparison to the highly refined and silky smoooooooth LX470. You were more "detached" from the harsh outside world while in the 470. They are still wonderful vehicles!
The updated electronics (telematics) and power of the LX570 are hard to resist! Of all the technology, all works perfectly as it should and the overall vehicle is a joy to drive and own. My only complaint is I would have liked to have had direct air conditioned seats. My new Ford Truck had them and on a hot Florida day . . . . nice!

I dont own both but as an avid LX fan and LX470 owner from the outside i personally hate the 570 look and agree that it is too wide especially from the rear. But as stated above the technology and power in the new LX is too hard to pass up. (Lowering ride height on highway speeds, almost 100 more hp from the 470, etc.)

I just traded in a 2001 lx470 with 193,000 miles for a 2009 LX 570 with 30,000. I loved my LX 470 and had no problems. I installed the TRD supercharger around 50,000 miles, and it's power was roughly equivalent to the 570. I really like the 570, but my 470 was smoother riding. 470 had Michelines, 570 Dunlops.

I had the 470 '98, went to test drive the 570 when it came out. Grabbed one of the last remaining 470 '06 from the dealer inventory after the test drive despite it was priced (here in canada) 10k over the 570. Call me crazy.

i think it also depends on what year 470 you owned. The experience of owning say a high-mileage '99 vs. a pampered '06 is a bit different.
That said, my 09 570 is vastly superior to my 01 470. The only thing I really miss is the anonymity the older car afforded.

Needless to say, our 2004 LX 470 was the best, but it had one problem ... we moved into a townhouse with a narrow garage and it didn't fit. We traded it at zero cost for a 2006 RX 400h, which was ... interesting, but we are happier now in a 2010 GX 460. It reminds us of the LX 470 ... perfected!
