So what was the outcome of the "height high" switch?
I was wondering what the purpose of the subtle change is? I know there was a little confusion about how it works. When I read my manual, it sounds like, when it is set to the high position, it will only raise the car to normal height if it gets loaded with passengers or cargo. When I research it on here, people say it raises it about 20mm and holds it there no matter how it is loaded. If so, then why should I raise it? It's not much of a difference. What was that button actually intended for?

I use the high height button every time I park in my spot. Without raising the car, the front undercarriage scrapes the wheel stopper. I also raise the car when I park at the gym because of the high concrete wheel stoppers. Whenever I park in an unfamiliar spot, I raise the car to ensure the undercarriage clears all obstacles. It's also useful, I find, to raise the car in snow. I see a very noticeable difference in the car's height when it is raised.

My 2010 LS460L will raise and lower on demand about 1 1/2 inches using the height button (its' pretty cool)! If people/weight is added the car will retain the high position if active, if not active the car will lower. So use it when a lot of weight is added or like Strad6708 said to clear obstacles, etc..
There is a module you can buy which would allow you to adjust the car even lower then factory (I think the kids/cool people call it "slammin" lol) but it cost over $1000 bucks. Ouch!

I used the Height High switch this weekend when pulling into the infield at the Mid-Ohio Race track where the ground was choppy and uneven.
I was attempting not to get stuck in a hole or scrape the rockers.

It should be labeled as soft or firm as the height is misleading. This isn't a 4wd pickup truck.
