Hub Size Issues
Hey everyone, My name is Ageth W and I'm sorta new to Club Lexu. I own a '92 LS400. After a year of my baby sitting on the driveway, I'm finally bringing it back to life. I haven't used it in quite a while and My future plans with it is to convert it to a manual transmission, and hopefully use it as a drift car. For now though as I bring everything together, I want it sitting on a nice set of rims. I was looking at aftermarket rims and I nothing would look good with the stock look I'm going for. I found a set of Black Chrome Charger rims for sale but then I found a difference in hub size. Stock hub size for the ls4 is 114.3 and for the charger rims its 115. I've done quite some research but I keep getting bullshyt results on google comparing 115 to 114.3 when I want to know the opposite. Are spacers used to center the rim or is there something else? and I couldn't find stock offset on the original ls400 rims but for the charger rims it is 24. Is this to much to little or would it close to the fender? If you could help me out i'd be real thankful!
these are the rims i'm hoping to put on my ls4

Few things,,what you are referring to 5X114.3 vs 5X115 is the Lug pattern size and not the hub size. Lexus Hubs measure 60.1 mm. Just for those measurements alone, the rims will not fit without adaptors because of the difference in lug patterns.
Spacers are not used to canter a rim, you are thinking of hubcentric rings which aid in centering the rim onto the hub of the car. Spacers are used to push the rim more toward the outside edge of the car closer toward the fenders.
Offset of the STOCK 400 rims are pretty conservative, closer to + 40 IIRC.

If you get rims that have different hub size than 60.1 then you will be placing all of the load onto the lugnuts instead of the hubs. It could possibly damage your wheels/break a lugnut/stud or something. Moral of the story GET HUB RINGS! Also just out of ease I would suggest getting a rim with the standard 5x114.3 bolt pattern as oppposed to that other funky one you mentioned. there are literally thousands of different ones out there for you to choose from. If you are unsure about whether it will fit just repost! I have a 92 LS also good luck!

trukn, are you saying the wheels won't fit because of 5x114.3 vs 5x115?
If so, I have to correct you. 5x115 is the same as 5x114.3, American car makers just didn't like the fact that the number had a decimal point.
The issue you will have if you're going from Jap wheels to domestic cars is actually the studs won't fit through the wheels because they are a 14x1.5
But 5x114.3 will fit 5x115 cars, vice versa, backwards, whatever.

Being hubcentric has nothing to do with PCD, hubcentric is purely center bore.
5x115 and 5x114.3 are identical, most wheel manufactures will actually tell you that when asked. I worked in a shop that dealt with some of the most modified LX bodies in Canada and we ALWAYS ordered the wheels for them in 5x114.3, if you ask most wheel distributors for a 5x115 wheel, they send 5x114.3.
My brothers oldsmobile beater is running 5x114.3 wheels right now (off my G35) and GM says that's a 5x115 PCD car.

All 5x155's do NOT fit Lexus 5x114.3

I tried a set of eBay obtained 97 SC300 16-inch painted rims...I thought mine and the SC300's had 40mm offsets. The SC300 rims do not clear my brake calipers though . Are spacers a viable option?

Absolutely wrong when talking about some LS400's. I have a set of 18-inch LS460wheels/tires (5x115) in my garage now that will fit over the studs but there is not enough clearance (in the wheel holes) for the lug nuts. I had to lube the OUTSIDE of the lug nuts to get them to slide enough to seat and when I took the first lug nut off, it snapped the stud off and I had to loosen all of the nuts off very, very carefully and apply as much or more torque over the whole stud length when removing. The 5x115mm are NOT the same. So I have the 18-inch set of wheels/tires I cannot use on my 97 LS400 and 16-inch chrome plated factory wheels that are pitted and have lost more chrome than most cars have weights.

LS460s have a PCD of 5x120mm, not 5x115. that explains your issue, running unmodified 5x120 wheels on a 5x114.3 car is stupid verging on death.
and any search on wheel fitment would have told you that wheel offset isn't related to brake fitment, and which OEM wheels fit and dont fit., now you're going to need at LEAST 10-15mm spacers (hubcentric) to clear your froont brakes.

etcm, before you accuse people that have been modifying cars for a living you should really check your facts.
As I said before, call a wheel company and ask them if it's the same bolt pattern. They will tell you that I am right.
Guess what I just ordered wheels for, a 2009 SRT8 Charger. Guess what bolt pattern I ordered for it?

Thanks for setting the record straighy
OKay, I must have read 5x120 and thought /wrote 5x115. I admit error and although I cannot "retract" my original post, I would like to I knew I should have measured it first! And, I should have kept my mouth shut/keyboard quiet. Thank you for setting the record straight.
