Hey guys i just changed my starter this past weekend which let me tell u was hell of a lot of work . When i started the car there was a loud sound as if a exhaust leak . I went to Two muffler shops today and they couldnt figure it out. I ended up taken my cats off but that was not the problem , I thought it was the cats for sure because the car has 162k . It sounds alot nicer but that leak is still there. The only thing that i touched when getting to the starter that was pertaining to the exhaust was the EGR valve. There was two metal Gaskets which i beleive may be my issue because i did not replace them . Has anyone encountered this ?
ya i might have damaged that since i did move it in order to get the manifold out ,man that is alot of work ahhh . Im goin to my buddies shop to get it on the lift and c if we can figure it out but its most likely the EGR
ya but theres no way to get to it besides taking apart the manifold and starter off again to get to it
?
Not really, theres a kit sold for $100, its basically 3 metal plates, 1 goes between the intake manifold and the egr pipe, another goes between exaust manifold and the pipe, and another one goes between intake manifold and egr valve.
