transmission drain and refill capacity?
Does anyone know the amount of tranny fluid i should buy if i wanted to do a simple drain and refill on the transmission of my 00 LS 400?
I know that with a simple drain, you do not get all of the fluid out, only a percentage. I would rather know before hand instead of draining it out, then measuring it and then having to go to the store.
I am not a believer in transmission flushes. I personally believe that drain and refill after every several oil changes is a better method.
any help would be appreciated.

I put my LS400 up on ramps since it is difficult to know where to put a jack until you get the splash guard off the bottom. When I drain the transmission while it is up on the ramps (front tires up), I get 4 quarts out of it.

Transmission Flush
The transmission pan drain can be even more than 3 qts. Depends on how long the car has been sitting. A flush is very easy. Just follow the simple in lexls.com instructions. Two important points 1) Buy a long 5-6 foot long CLEAR 3/8 hose so you can see the fluid going into a clear 1 gal container next to the drivers door. You want to see the condition of the fluid is coming out (2qts at a time). 2) Be sure you are using ONLY Toyota Type IV ATF fluid. DO NOT go to a oil change garage. They will not put in the proper fluid.
