Default transmission drain and refill capacity?

Does anyone know the amount of tranny fluid i should buy if i wanted to do a simple drain and refill on the transmission of my 00 LS 400?

I know that with a simple drain, you do not get all of the fluid out, only a percentage. I would rather know before hand instead of draining it out, then measuring it and then having to go to the store.

I am not a believer in transmission flushes. I personally believe that drain and refill after every several oil changes is a better method.

any help would be appreciated.

actually in the maintenance forum, they were talking about tranny drain and refills. someone posted up the percentage of old tranny oil in the tranny after each flush and after the 10th flush there was i think 5% of the old tranny oil still in there.

I put my LS400 up on ramps since it is difficult to know where to put a jack until you get the splash guard off the bottom. When I drain the transmission while it is up on the ramps (front tires up), I get 4 quarts out of it.

Most of it is stuck in the torque converter.

I often forget to buy new tranny drain crush washers at the dealer. Has anyone ever had trouble re-using tranny drain crush washers?

Default Transmission Flush

The transmission pan drain can be even more than 3 qts. Depends on how long the car has been sitting. A flush is very easy. Just follow the simple in lexls.com instructions. Two important points 1) Buy a long 5-6 foot long CLEAR 3/8 hose so you can see the fluid going into a clear 1 gal container next to the drivers door. You want to see the condition of the fluid is coming out (2qts at a time). 2) Be sure you are using ONLY Toyota Type IV ATF fluid. DO NOT go to a oil change garage. They will not put in the proper fluid.
