How to replace low beam headlight bulb?
Hi everyone, well I have a low beam out on the right side.
Went to autozone and spent $50 for two Sylvania Sliverstar Ultran bulbs. Waste of money? My lexus is a 1997 LS400, and I have NO idea what is involved to replace the bulbs. Any written proceedure, with helpful pictures on this by chance? How much of the front end do I have to take off? Tools? Big job, take to dealer and pay to much my option? Really appreciate any advise!
thanks
John

You honestly don't need a guide to change a lightbulb. It's so amazingly simple. The socket for the bulb is on the back of the headlight. It twists and then pulls out of the headlight if I remember correctly. Then pull out the old bulb, put in the new, and install is the reverse of removal. No tools are needed, and no parts have to be taken off.

Sonyman, yes, I think I can do that. But, when I open the hood and try to get my hand in back of where the bulb holder should be, well, I can not get back there as it is blocked? Looks I have to take some stuff off in order to get back there?

The cover by the battery simply pulls off; lift up on the right of the cover (looking at it from the picture's perspective) which will release a clip and then lift it off, which will release a tab on the back of the cover by the battery. It will probably just come off if you pull anywhere on it upwards to be honest. The radiator cover, which is the piece with the ovening on the front, comes off by removing a 10mm bolt hidden under the other cover. Then it simply comes off by pulling it up and to the right, again from the perspective of looking at that picture. Only remove what you need to in order to access the light.

remove the battery if you need room, and on the passenger side remove the duct work it just clips on, 2 minutes most.
