Default New shock time, what to buy?

I'm debating between Monroe Sensa-Tracs, KYB GR-2s, or Tokico Blues. What would you guys get?

Monroe is similar to OEM dampening.

monroes iirc have a higher premature failure rate than the others.

KYB is the closest to OEM i can think of.

If you want OEM KYB, try irontoad.com or l-tunedparts.com....less stiff than aftermarket KYB shocks, and not much more $.

Monroe, Gabriel, no-name...if they are matched incorrectly to the car, failure will occur. Most these have a lifetime warranty so replacement is not an issue. Certainly they don't have the name or reputation of a high line sports unit. Since it is a part unseen it is usually a non issue for most motorists and one they will not be able to discern. Key point is a unit matched for OEM dampening spec.

I know Monroe/Tenneco does OEM work for Ford, GM and Toyota. I've seen the Sensa-Tracs and they look like decent units.

ok, guys...I know...READ the old threads before posting questions... and I have...but I have not found anyone who's addressed this: what IS the real difference between swapping oem susp for coilovers?

Need a cost-effective way to get a firmer ride plus about 1-2" drop.

but..coilovers...are $$$

advice?

coilovers are good if u want ADJUSTABILITY.

spring/shock are good if u are just going to be driving onthe street. but coilovers will go down lower than spring/shocks (most of the time) and will ride better when lower the majority of the time.

I got the KYBs for $77 a shock, and then made a trip down to Exact Motorsports for some Daizen bushings, and I'm also doing the lower ball joints.

i LOVE IT!!!

i can go as low (dare i say: Lower) than someone on Tein CS

the ride is pretty damned good for how low the car is but it does get rough on bad roads which is a given.

but keep in mind that the LSportline setup has differently valved shocks compared to normal Bilsteins and the Springs are custom rate as well.
