Default Parking Sensor light Problems

I have a parking sensor light that comes on then goes off after cleaning the parking sensor. How do you turn off the parking sensor for the LS 460? Any help?

On the '07 and probably later models there is a dash button with a "P" on it just above the drivers left knee and below the mirror deployment switch. That will disable the parking sensors.

Mr. Mcraney have you had any problems with your parking sensors. Do they just fail and need to be replaced? My " go see the dealer parking sensor light" comes on while I am driving. Thanks for all your help.

Mr. Armstrong,

I am on my fourth Toyota Sienna that has been equipped with parking sensors and my '07 LS460 has parking sensors and I have never had a problem with the parking assist systems including the sensors. The technology is mature and is used in lots of vehicles. Because the sensors are located on the bumpers they are easily damaged by the everyday risk of parking especially parallel parking. In most of the applications, and I think in the LS 460 too, the technology is SONAR (sound waves) and that makes the sensors vulnerable to obstruction by dead insects and and road grime however that is usually resolved by washing.
