Default Dealer charge for tire pressure monitor reset?

I just purchased new tires at my neighborhood tire shop and they were not able to reset the tire pressure system.
I took the car to my Lexus dealership for an alignment right away and they then tell me that it will cost me 115 dollars extra to reprogram each new tire into their computer and that it will take 30 minutes per wheel . Is this just a scam or the truth?
Or did I just have to press that reset button under the dash???
He said that if I had purchased the tires thru him they would not have charged me for it.

I think all you had to do was drive a few more miles.

Use reset procedure in owners manual. If you just changed tires then sensors should be fine. Unless the broke one of them or put in a different sensor. Discount Tire does resets for free and takes less than ten minutes for ALL 5 sensors so the dealer is full of shiii..that is outrageous and I would file a complaint for that nonsense!

Also make sure you have correct PSI amounts in each tire and even make sure they didn't pull an okie doke and gave you STD valve stems in place of your tpms sensors...heard of this happening before at some shops..not a dealer tho

Well after venting to the service advisor and telling him how displeased I was with this new crap he got his manager and reset them at no charge. And thats after I paid for alignment.
I am going to file a complaint against them with Lexus for all the good that may do me.

The one single thing any rational, sane-thinking man should take from this is simply this:

Ya just CANNOT beat DISCOUNT TIRE !!!!!!

Even if it means drivin' "in" from another state !

Discount Tire RE-DEFINES how Tire Retailing should be carried out, regardless of the situation, store location, personal, or etc. Each and Every day.

I should once again, point out, I have NO affiliation with Discount Tire, nor any of its employees, and am not compensated whatsoever for expressing my very humble opinions.

So, please remember: If it involves TIRES, YOU wanna involve DISCOUNT TIRE !

My previous POS Lexus dealership Bell Lexus tried to charge me $640 for 4 TPMS sensors. I called discount tire and they wanted less than half. The guy at discount tire was BLOWN away that they tried to charge me that much for sensors. He actually told me that he would never return to a shop that tried to rip him off that blatantly
