Automatic door lock
When we take our '07 LS460L out of "PARK" the doors lock. If I had a medical emergency while driving and lost consciousness, how would first responders open the door to get me out?

First responders are usually equipped with the fire/rescue equivalent of a crowbar and they apply that to the car's glass, as required, to effect a rescue. It is very much like the problem you would have if you just reached over and pressed the LOCK button on the door and then passed out.

If you feel uncomfortable about that setting, you can take your car to a Lexus dealer and he can program your car so the doors do not lock. If you have never had your personalized settings changed, the first time is free.

I don't know. Who's going to volunteer to test it?

In the owners manual under "Automatic door locking and unlocking systems" there are instructions on "Setting and canceling the functions". I followed the instructions and now my doors no longer lock when I shift out of park.
Incidentally, in the next section under "Impact detection door release system" it says, "In the event that the vehicle is subject to a strong impact, all the doors are unlocked".
