97 LS400 Master key and remote questions
Hello ...
Recently purchased a '97 LS400, but in transit, the shippers lost the master key. We only received the valet key, one remote fob, and the wallet key.
Question 1: Did the master key have a button to lock/unlock the doors, similar to a '90 master? (We sold our '90 and the master key had a small button on the side to unlock/lock the doors.)
Question 2: The Lexus dealer told us we would have to replace the entire system in order to get a new master key. Is this correct? They told us that Lexus will, on a one-time basis, replace the computer and provide a master key for labor costs only. After reading most threads regarding replaced keys, I'm wondering if they're feeding me a line.
Question 3: We recently purchased a remote fob on ebay and my wife found some instructions for programming it ... we think. The open door, lock/unlock door sequence ... is this for the fob or the master key? Now we're wondering ....
Thanks for any insight you can provide.

1. The 95-97 master key does not have integrated functions.
2. Unless the key system has been changed form the original factory programming, it should be uneventful to order a master key. $65 at the dealer.
3. Key fob programming is located in BE 153 of the service manual. Key programming BE 288 of the service manual. These are the ignition open-close door sequences. Very easy to do.
