Lost my last key! Help!
So I lost the only key to my 97 sc300. I still have the remote lock/unlock. Ive searched and read many threads but Im still confused. For what reason would I need to get the key programmed or flashed or whatever ? Do all these keys have chips in them, even if the remote lock/unlock is separate? I already looked online and sewell lexus sells and cuts master keys so I'm guessing thats my best bet. TIA.

So you're saying you've got a key fob remote but no key? For my '92 the remote is built into the key. I think that's what Luxor's question is about.

Ya, on my 92 the remote was built into the key as well. But on the 97 it came with a seperate key fob remote.

Well then you should just be able to get a new key and have it cut. I don't think there's a chip in it or anything.

You have to go to the dealer. They will want proof of ownership before they will cut a new key.

Thanks for the replies guys. So there is no cheaper alternative than going to the dealer huh? This sucks.

Buy an uncut key from Sewell Lexus and take it to your local Lexus dealer and have them cut it. If I am not mistaken 97+ keys are chipped.

'96 and '97 models came with separate remotes. OP, all you need to do it buy a non-chipped key from Sewell. They will cut it for you for free if you can provide information stating that you own the vehicle.

Ive had a non remote master key cut at a dealer for 25 bucks, the 100 they quoted you seems a bit high.
